all of those cars look hidious with the rusted hoods!!! and some of them would look SICK with regular hoods but the rust just kills it! i have never hear of this look till just now, but i hate it! (im going to my 24hr walmart, buying tons of spray paint, and if i see someone with this "rust hood look" i will spray paint the hood to the color of the car) lol i looked at the pics and i just kept making this face :crazy:

The hole, go fast for cheap shit. Lets say ur missing ur hood, or recently got in an accident. You go to the junk yard, and they got the hood, but its rusty as fuck! SO the typical ricer would slap it on, and lets go... Its been done around my moms area so much... I get scared driving beside them because i think the car is gonna fall aprt

 

Same thing as all the gray primer colored cars driving around... usually people telling themselves it looks cool when they're really just too broke to paint the car, and others just follow the trend.

On that same note... I would like to see rust with a clearcoat, might as well since it's already a trend.

 

I don't mind it when it's on a complete rat look car, so there's plenty of rust all around, but just the hood is stupid I think.

yeah all the old vw people are into that, idk why hondas are doing it though it just looks stupid IMO. The older vws do look kind of cool with it, i have to say. Some of the hatches on that site would be much better off with a cf or stock hood though. Those vw ppl are always so quirky man idk what it is about them.

i FUCKIN love it. i really appreciate the unique styling of the euro Vdub style. and it would only work if the rest of the car was super unbelievably clean. i like the black GTI with kinda a corroded patterned hood about half way down. i think its one of them things ya know. i really like it though.


like roof racks, woody steering wheels, white wall tires, flat paint jobs, halequin panels. all seem to be EURO styling but i really like it!

I almost dislike carbon fiber as much as this, but atleast CF doesn't rust, so if I ever come across any good pieces I can paint them like hardly anyone else has.

These were at Run To The Sun 2009 - one of the biggest VW shows in the UK, if not the biggest - and I think the owners are a bit nuts. I like the splitty one though for something unique n bizarre

That looks cool... but his car will be shit in a few years. The other cars? Seriously, wtf. Spend thousands and thousands of dollars making your car look cool, then to do that to a hood... ugh. This is worse than the "flat black hood" trend after F&F.


This whole trend started with someone who liked rat-rods, but drove a Honda. Patina is cool- on older hot rods and sleepers.

It's one thing to go with a rat-rod theme with an older car, but, this is bullshit.

I think this guy pulls it off best.

 

carbon fiber too expensive? just rattle can your hood black.

carbon fiber hood blew off? buy a new steel one from certi-fit, and leave it in the black electro-coat.

after three years of your lazy ass not painting it, all the 'primer' fades off and it starts to rust.

some guy with a vw or a 40/50s bomb drives by with actual patina, and you decide you like the 'new look'.


so, you buy three gallons of paint stripper and 6 gallons of bleach.
