That's the spool valve btw, the solenoid itself bolts on top and must be swapped over.

Maybe I'm not sure what you mean by "spool valve", but it basically just serves as a housing. All the moving parts have to be scavenged from your existing solenoid.

 

There is a valve inside, the solenoid that's bolted on top actuates the valve.

This is just engine bay bling, it will not increase performance, if anything it could possibly decrease it as it's essentially a knock off of a Honda part.

 

Skunk2 makes a black vtec solenoid replacement. I woudnt use it, but they do make them.

Can anyone vouch for skunk2? Has anyone got their exhaust? Intake manifold or throttle body?

 

I have read bad reviews on skunk2 throttle bodies (sticking) and the VTEC solenoid not functioning properly.

I would just order one off hondaautomotiveparts.com if you want a brand new one. Idk if its still available or not though.

I use thier intake manifold, cam seal (in one engine) and have used numerous other skunk2 parts on my other cars rangin from del sol to integra to prelude and civic. I was not pelased with the upper control arms, the valves(all bnib but none straight), skunk2 cams(had one break), I am liking the Skunk2 intake manifold, and the coilovers on del sol wer epretty good, the lower controla rms are awesome too, they look great and are good replacement for worn oem ones.
