Can I bypass my coolant Thermovalve

Just wondering if i can bypass my thermovalve on 1987 prelude 1.8 carburetor

YES! in most cases i sugest it simply becouse it tends to fail. if its badly corroded it may just bust apart.

now it depends if you live in a cold climate(like me in canada) then you may want to keep it/repair it.

Thanks, I live in the vancouver area, and the car runs better than it hasfor along time since I just bypassed until I figure out what to do, it must of been faulty. what happens when its cold because we go up north once a year. Just trying to figure out if its worth spending $50 on.

that valve sends coolant through the intake to warm it in the cold weather. it prevents carb icing from the cold air. you can replace it with a regular fitting and reattach the hose with no issues. all that does is restrict the water flow below a certain tempurature. since it unscrews a standard fitting can be threaded in. but you will have constant water flow under all conditions. its really up to you but if you drive in the winter you may want to replace it.
