I have a H22a with a skunk 2 intake manifold, type s cams, ACT Prolite flywheel and a stage one greddy racing clutch. I also have a chipped ECU and mugen exhaust and headers. My question is other than having my car tuned is there anything else I can do to increase my speed for 1,500 or under?

X2 spray is the way to go.
H22s love spray.

Also you can put the car in a little bit of a diet such as removing AC,PS,CC and so forth.

gut the whole car, spare tire jack back seats, rear crossmmber stereo equipment, ac, cc, ps, etc...mabe bigger injectors, high compression pistons, eiher the type s pistons o slightly raise it or some other aftermarket ones that will put it higher, high flow cat of you want te exust to flow better.tune obviously. every little thing your your money limit haha

well i would personally would just upgrade the whole valve train id get all skunk2 pro, skunk2 throttle body, msd. but you could also get high compression pistons, fuel injectors, fuel rail, pulleys, really the list is going to go on it all depends on what your plans are and if your going to stay all motor or going to go boost down the road

EDIT: Whoops, read that totally wrong. I know that you said $1,500 without tuning, but you really should look into it seeing that you're on a basemap still. However, you can certainlly benifit from making the car lighter and not spend a dime. Free power=amazing... nuff said.

1st option:
Pull the head.
Sell the type s cams
Port&Polish.
new skunk 2 Valves, Springs, Retainters,
Skunk2 Pro2 cams
Skunks2 6 bolt Adjustable cam gears
and throw the remaining cash into dyno tuning.

Option 2:
Buy a Nx wet nitrous system and call it a day.
aswell as a good N/A tune.
or retard the ignition timing
buy NGK bkr7e spark plugs
gap them
and spray 75-100 shot. :D

Thats awesome , thanks thats what I was looking for. Nice and clear cut! Thanks for all your info. I am having my mechanic take out my AC compressor tomorrow, does anybody know what belt size I will need to run my alternator since I wont have the added AC ?

I dont think I will go turbo

I was reading about some kids turbo thread and I had no idea so much money was involved in major turbos. All the added responsibility's is too much for me.
I think I will go with building up my motor the best I can get it and then going with a nice S/C . I race every weekend but I am comfortable not being the "fastest" every time, The super charger seems like a better deal especially since I don't have to sleeve the motor and all that.

you could throw on some altezza tail lights, they add like...what, 50+hp, a combat wing will give you +75hp,and a stick on hood scoop, which will get you down the strip in like..say, 6secs flat!....and you didnt even have to touch your motor!

lol j/k, i just felt like saying dumb shit, if your on a budget of 1500, gutting what you dont need would be a good step, ac and all its components is about a 40lbs loss, cc, when i removed those, i realyl did feel a good difference, then you can start spending money on what the the other guy said..lol.. good luck...i support a girl luder all the way!!!!

Well I've only seen 1 supercharged 4th gen, on PreludeOnline. I don't think anyone makes a supercharger for 4th gens and the guy who's SC'd on PO.com made a 5th gen fit into a 4th gen by cutting into the firewall and some other custom mounting. I also know the kit he used, Jackson Racing SC isn't cheap...used they sell for 2-2,500 plus installation/customization, you're better off spraying or turbo charging.

I have seen my share of cars with the engine bay on fire from spray. Is it dangerous or were they just dumb? Because I don't want to blow my engine. I really don't know much about spray . I have a friend who has a s/c on his 4th gen I don't know where he got it from but I am sure it wouldn't be more expensive than me sleeving my engine and then putting a turbo on it plus tuning. I really like the idea of a s/c. Even if it ends up being costly it's just that much more unique. lol

I'd let you know on the belt but, I don't have my car at the moment.(getting painted)

Buying a RMF, SMSP ect. would just be a waist in this situation. She already has a Mugen header which is one of the best bolt on headers you can get. Plus, one of those headers alone would take a big junk of change out of her budget and she wouldn't see enough of a gain, compaired to her current set up, to warrant spending that much, at this point in time.

But to the OP, it sounds like you need to figure out which asperation you want to run. How much power do you want? If it's alot, go the FI rought. If it's moderate power, go N/A.

If I had $1500 I would buy a good ECU and Hondata S300 with an Innovative Wideband and have somebody tune the heck out of it. The good thing about this option is that it opens up tons of doors and still leaves you money to get some nitrous on that bitch haha. Just think, now, when you buy new cams or get that turbo or whatever you will already have the hardware/software to get a good tune down!

I think $1k of ECU related goodies is overkill for such a basic setup.
On an i/h/e H22A we were only able to pull an extra few HP and 0tq from a couple hours of tuning an S200 over a VAFC.

^good ideas here bb4, and a tune will def. optimize these parts... barely a point in bolt-ons if you don't tune.

I gained almost 20whp and significant torque with eCtune on a fairly basic setup... spent $575 for the p28, chipping hardware/labor, and dyno tune: Power is much smoother now and you can tell a significant difference... more info on prelude zone as mr_y82

won't the s2000 throttle body fit?

#36 ·
None of the things that you guys are throwing out will do much without a tune. The reason I suggested it is because not only will it optimize the current modifications, it will also open doors down the road for ANYTHING that she is willing to throw at it. Whether it be turbo or higher compression N/A build. So, with that in mind reconsider the ECU and S200...

I am, please explain.... because I've tried a crap load of TB's and currently I have a 70mm skunk2. IT'S FUCKING GARBAGE!.. blox, OBX, anything that's billet aluminum so far has been garbage.

I'm going to try a BDL....hopefully the pricey unit is more solid then everything else.
