Not sure where to ask this but...

I understand that properly torquing them is very important (personal experience since I'm leaking so badly!). My question is where to get a torque wrench that will properly measure down to 7-8 ft-lbs? All the ones I've seen start at 12 lbs and I've heard that trying to back it down below that makes the torque reading go off badly. I want to do this just one more time! I don't want to have to have a smoke screen when I roll up to a light after getting off the highway (it leaks right on my downpipe!)!

Someone enlighten me to find an inch lb torque wrench that will properly torque down to 7 ft-lbs (84 in-lbs)? :?:

if you go to a parts store, they can lend you an adjustable torque wrench. My dad's torque wrench has a set-dial in the handle. You set the desired torque and the wrench clicks when you get to that point. It's very easy to use and saves a lot of time.

his name is "chris'dad" on here. PM him and ask him where he got it. I don't remember...

You don't need a torque wrench. Also you don't wanna use one. it is bad. you will break bolt after bolt if you use one. Just crank it down with a reg wrench or socket make sure that you are not having to push with all of you might. If you get to that point then the bolt is about to break.

Most of those "click" T wrenchs dont go down to 7 pounds is the problem...you need to get a "gay" torque wrench where it has the metal bar and the "wiggly" handle....I have one of those and i know it has at least as low as 5 lbs on it....you can usually goto checker, buy one...use it IN the package...and then return it.. :D

Just wanted to say that I found a torque wrench on ebay for 21 shipped that goes down to 60 inch lbs. I only need it to go down to 84 so it should work.

Also, I tried just snugging them by hand and it's still leaking like crazy. I guess I just don't know my own strength!

BTW, I've never broken a bolt for the oil pan, the valve cover on the other hand! :slap:
