I dont know if this is a common thing with h22, but when its cold out side or the car hasnt been running in over 5 hours it takes a while to start it. I thought it might have been the battery so I swaped the battery with a new one and it still has the same problem. Before when the car was an automatic h23 i never had any problems starting in the cold even with my cold air intake.

I have had the same problem, I am not driving the car this year but I had the H23 before the H22A swap, and it worked fine. The JDM H22A doesnt like the cold i geuss, Im sure there is a reason for it...

Just letting you know your not alone, sorry I couldnt help

Um, just throwing something out there but your fuel pressure at the rail could be bleeding down and causing an extended crank. It could be many things causing this but I guess it is up to you whether it is worth the money or diagnostic time.

how long is "a while"? since its been cold mine usually takes about 5 to 6 secs but i dont think thats long enough to worry about

Its the worst in the morning, take me about 3 min of on off cranking. Once the car has been started i have to give it some gas to keep it from dieing. The rest of the day its fine unless is has been not running for more that 5-6hours. I added some heet to the gas tank, kinda helped but I noticed when I prime the fuel pump on and off a few times it started up a little faster, about 1-2min to start.

Mine did the same thing. Took me a min or two of on-off cranking to get it going. It only happened when extremely cold out and it had been sitting long enough to cool off. I'm gonna try a new main relay. Other than that I've had two people say the same thing as nbimprtlude20 to me. If the relay doesn't work I'll investigate that more.

mine hates to start too, after cooling off. regardless of temeperature.
if it ran an hour before, starts right away. if not, it cranks a few times before it fires. it's annoying.

Well my lude is in Houston so I never have that problem obviously. Out here in Ohio I bought a t-bird with a boss 302 and when it gets cold I have to use some starting fluid and let it warm up for a few minutes at around 1500 rpm or it will die. The guy that sold me the car said it's because it's got high compression pistons. I know that h22a's are high compression with like what? 9:1? So that may have something to do with it...

I changed my ECT sensor yesterday and i was able to start right up in the cold. It was 29 degrees F when i left for work and it fired right up.. have to press gas still.
