I'd say it is - just do a search on here for threads with Prelude Curse in them and you'll get loads of hits of wrecked cars put down to the curse!


It doesn't help with the store I work in having it's own car curse too - once you start working at my store, your car WILL go wrong within a month, and then it's once a quarter minimum after that! :lol:

LMAO!!! I have had the same problem since owning my 1st lude, now on the 2nd one, my hands still always smell like oil lol.

Well my 1st lude was def cursed so i got rid of it. This one has held up well so far ( makes the sign of the cross with fingers crossed). I always look at it and hope nothing happens to her.

When i left for basic i told my dad to drive my car a couple times while i was away. The first time he took it out to pick up some parts. A van turned right into him and totaled my lude.

leak after leak, 2 vc gaskets, 2 slave cylinders, clutch, imobilizer box, plugs, wires, coil

I lost my girlfriend becuase of my lude (We were living together, and we had been going out for 2 and a 1/2 years, she thought i cared about the car more than her...(Not true) didnt even let me choose we broke up in april of 08, i havent had a relationship since. Then the cars oil pump blows, i get it fixed, 2 miles down the road my flywheel cracks, i get that fixed, car runs great for a few day im driving down the highway and i heard a banging sound, i pull over, and take a loo, my crank pulley is lose enough that i can twist it with my fingers. i wait all winter thinking i need a new crankshaft.i dont, it needs a pulley and key for the keyway, i get them, it eats through my new crank pulley and key in less than 24 hours, now its on a stand again, tire off, im waiting for ATI to get thrie h22 pulleys done. so for now the lude sits...


i didnt know there was a curse with Preludes. if nothing happened to me i wouldnt beleive it. but now that i have head of it Im like hummmm...


if there IS a curse, can it be broken, if so how do we do it? lets try to make the Ludes some of the luckiest cars out there.

 

i bought my lude for $2500 6 years ago, and 4 weeks later the H23 broke (spun bearing or the clutch)

I just n!gger rig stuff on my car so it works. I love her so much, i put cheap parts on it just to make it go whooooooooommmmmmmmVVVEEEEETTTAAAAAKKKKKK!!!!!

2 weeks after the car was repaired I blew the first engine.
Then blew another 3 in the following 11 months.
Serious arguements with my father.
Failing college (not directly related to the car,but it kinda is...)

Every Since buying that 5th gen prelude, Bobby had horrible luck finding dates. He eventually masterbated to death and his spirit haunts his car, which was sold on ebay, to this very day.

anybody hear about the guy who had "satan's car" it was in europe i think, its license plate was 666, its vin had 666 in it (i think) and when the guy bought it he had non stop bad luck, almost or did lose his wife, job..., then one day he sold it and everything went back to normal.

This is all very interesting b/c I've been reading on here for over 2 years and had yet to hear of said "Prelude Curse"--until reading the July HT article on the black 5G Lude (there's a little blurp about the prelude curse after it.)

I've had my Lude exactly 3 yrs now (from miles 83,xxx to currently 118,00x). It's never failed to start for me (even in single-digit temps).

I can't complain, however I've def put some $$$ into it for regular maintenence (s/p?). Timing-belt, water pump etc as soon as I bought it...bad luck running over nails and replaced a couple of tires that fall...new windshield...got rear-ended once and had rear bumper-cover repaired/ repainted and new center taillight...hit a deer at night wich incurred $2,xxx in damage--my ins co paid!!--NOT totaled...new a/c compressor/ system...several p/s hoses replaced...RR UCA bushings went out a month ago...front motor mount + random motor o-ring seal leaking oil + coolant heater hose replaced...f and r sway bar end link bushings replaced... the list goes ON and ON, not in order, just the stuff that's had to be fixed asap is listed.

Currently, I have a leaking p/s rack and leaking p/s pump-pulley-seal...leaking exhaust b-pipe...leaking trunk/ r&l taillights during Really hard rains (I'm made and re-made gaskets and will re-do again)...leaking doors during Really hard rains...a/c that's iffy in hot weather...possibly leaking brake master cylinder which may be related to my intermittent dash brake warning light...slight bouncing speedo at speeds 35 and below (it's an 88 so it's mechanical)...

BUT OTHER than that it's in GREAT shape and looks a LOT better than most of the 3rd Gen 'Ludes on here. POTM could be in my future in a year or two...just have to get some pix online...

100% agree that was the first time I heard about it too...

There isn't a curse. Shit happens... some of our cars are awesome and others are lemons or pieces of shit. This whole "curse" thing is gonna bring the value of my car down man lol

 

-3 days after buying the car, the o-ring busted
-then 2 weeks later i werck the car with no insurance got 2 big ass tickets
-at skool some ass kid hit my car and scratched up my back bumper and took off
-4 months later my clutch went out

all within 6months of the car!!!!!!!!!!! and my now insurance is trying to cancel my policy!!!!!!!!!!!

My car got backed into the day I bought it, I've replaced three ball joints so far (another one is going right now), two sets of bushings in the rear, two fuel injectors, I've gotten two fairly large dents from hit and runs (not sure if they were cars or carts or what), and I've been hit by some illegal immigrants that ran off.

 

my fuel system's main wiring harness developed a short after rubbing itself on a sharp edge of my transmission that it sat against. it heated up other harnesses around it, and slowly started destroying itself. my main harness going into the cpu was almost non-existent by the time i got it fixed.

2500$ covered by insurance, 600$ covered by me.

blessing in disguise: some old lady hit me, claimed 100% fault, so i got a new left side headlight, sidemarker, front-left fender and complete front bumper repaint all for free.

 

been single for 2.5 years...

 

since i bought her:

no accidents
no scratches
no engine problems

a lot of fun
a lot of things learned
A LOT of sex

I've noticed that somehow europeans get away from the curse. While everybody else gets shit on.

 

 

1.) Tire detreaded at 80mph flowing with traffic and pulled the car across three lanes of traffic.
2.) Fuel pump died on a friday
3.) The radio wire harness had been cut and twisted back together creating all sorts of cool shorts and whatnot
4.) Drove into a pileup infront of my college(but fixed it)
5.) Friend backed his ninja into the passanger door, bike was fine, lube was dentered
6.) Turned out I had been driving with unmarked hollow point bullets that were stashed deep in the trunk. along with some asian money
