Greddy SP1 Question (Rust Sucks)

So lately I've been noticing a rattling/buzzing noise coming from my exhaust. After take out the heat shield that hangs out above the muffler I realized that is was actually the muffler make the noise. So I took the muffler off to figure out what's going on and I noticed a gap between the canister itself and the pipe running through it. Now I'm trying to figure out if this is normal or if the two pieces used to be connected and have rusted so much they separated.

That circle is around the seperation between the canister and the piping. Anyone have any idea if that is supposed to look like that or not?

Looks like its seperating and the inside of your muffler is probably burnt. How many miles on it? My buddy had an SP2 on his RSX and same thing happened.

I have no idea how many miles are on it because I bought it from someone. I can tell you that it used to hit the ground which is probably why it broke. So I take it it's not supposed to do that. I'm going to weld the thing back together, piece of crap.
