Hey all,

Just got a 3rd gen (1988) Prelude 2.0 S. It's got blown out front speakers, the rears are pioneers but they're unplugged or something because they don't work. How good were the speakers originally? I'd open to potentially upgrading them, are there any good speakers with decent sound quality I can install in the car?

Go to www.crutchfield.com to shop for stereo components. You can select your car and it tells you the sizes that will work without adapters and which size will work with adapters (which they will provide free of charge). You also get any needed wiring harness adapters and installation instructions, also free of charge.

I installed new speakers in my 91 a few months ago. I went with kicker 46csc654 all the way around. They are 6.5 inch. They fit amazing and wow do they sound good. I have a kenwood head unit and it puts out a lot more power than the stock headunit. I am really happy.

Then you need a honda speaker adapter harness. I bought a set of 4 on ebay for cheap. They are all the same.

The sound system is utter gutter trash. My CD player doesn't work, the electric antenna has crapped itself and all of my speakers are blown. The speakers have paper cones and break down from UV light, and if that doesn't get them the vapor from the water getting in from the rust above your boot will. They are 5 inch speakers all around.

I would definitely stick with the 6.5 inch speakers. The kickers are amazing! But I am sure there are some cheaper options out there that sound good.
