@Calli -- first of all, please know that I am not mechanical, so any advice from me should be deferred to someone who is mechanical; however, some places I would check would be the health of the main relay, since that powers your fuel pump, your alternator and the connectors related to your ignition system to make sure they are not corroded and make a nice tight fit; something else to check are your engine bay grounds.

 

Thank you for that, It is currently in with a mechanic to have a look at, so hopefully they can find the issue.

 

Does this only happen after you fill up the car with fuel?

 

No, if it is warm from a journey and I turn off to go into a shop or anywhere if I then return after 5 mins or so it won’t start. If I sit for a few mins then it normally starts again and runs ok.!

 

I hope they can find the issue. This is one of those problems that would be really difficult to fix from across the internet. There’s too many possibilities, and it’s more efficient to let an expert sift through the car.

I wonder if it could be the fuel pump. Have you checked to see if it has fuel pressure when this happens?

Also it wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel filter.

Something is definitely getting hot and isn't happy.

Hi, yes it does, it’s currently in the garage so hopefully they will be able to sort it out.

 

This reads like the classic main relay problem.

The fix is to resolder the joints in the relay.
