Hi, I have a 1994 2.0i auto. It started to play up a few months ago, whenever I went to the fuel station to fill up if the engine was warm it would not start straight away, the abs light also stayed on. After a couple of minutes it would then start again and run perfectly.
It has been in to our garage, it’s had a new battery, plugs, and distributor as they thought it could be that. Unfortunately now it’s got worse and won’t start some days at all. Any body have any ideas please?? It is currently back at the garage but I think they’re a bit stumped tbh! Any help would be appreciated.

@Calli -- first of all, please know that I am not mechanical, so any advice from me should be deferred to someone who is mechanical; however, some places I would check would be the health of the main relay, since that powers your fuel pump, your alternator and the connectors related to your ignition system to make sure they are not corroded and make a nice tight fit; something else to check are your engine bay grounds.

I wonder if it could be the fuel pump. Have you checked to see if it has fuel pressure when this happens?

Also it wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel filter.

Something is definitely getting hot and isn't happy.

Does it crank over fine when its hot?

Hi, yes it does, it’s currently in the garage so hopefully they will be able to sort it out.
