As the title states is an intake worth it if i have an h23a1? Will I see improvement in mpg at all? Will my 0-20,0-40,0-60 be any different? Are there any negatives to buying a short ram intake? I plan on buying K&N if I do purchase :)

You mean H23a1 like the USDM Non-VTEC DOHC motor right? Yeah, unless you want to hear a more aggressive sound you're better off sticking with the stock intake. When it comes to the H22 I think that the only intakes that makes a actual power difference (A very, very small one at that) are the Type-S intake and the AEM V2. I've used the stock intake, the V2, and the Type-S and while they sound very different from each other you won't feel any difference.

You are referring to the blue top H23a not USDM H23a1 right? Because, the blue top is an outright beast. But, in the OP's case he has an H23a1 so I'm just gonna say that any real gains are a pipe dream if he's just putting on an intake. I would suggest to him to just put a K&N drop in filter and, call it a day.

The power difference is nothing to brag about that's all I'm gonna say. But, the V2 sounds so nice that that car will feel faster. If I take someones car and, give it 1-3hp without telling them, it is highly unlikely that they will notice a difference. If you want to make a real improvement to your car's intake system either get a K&N drop in, Type-S or a V2.

A true cold air intake only serves to ensure the air the engine is sucking in stays at the same consistent temperature, unlike the stock intakes or many aftermarket ones that heat up as the engine heats up the engine bay.
A true cold air intake would require you to have the filter outside of the engine bay.
They don't really add to your mpgs or hp at all, the realistic increase is maybe 1-2 hp with a good motor.

A short ram intake is pretty much just for the aesthetics. In fact, as far as functionality it will perform worse than a stock intake as it sucks up more hot air from the engine bay, and call suck up alot of dirt and other engine junk if you buy a cheap filter.

Your best bet would be either to remove the resonator baffles from the stock intake, plug up the holes, and buy a high flow filter for it; or buy all the piping to make a custom cold air set up. Just route the piping down into a wheel well or under the car. Just remember to watch for puddles...
