Hey guys,
If another H swap thread is not wanted, admin, just end this thread, and I'll ask my questions in the other ones, but I figured people might want to follow along.
I am going to be starting my H swap in the coming couple of weeks. This is the first major project I have done. I was hoping to have a bit more experience fixing up some other things, but I blew a rod in the stock engine.
I will most likely keep this thread updated with where I'm at and any questions I might have (of which I'm sure there will be a multitude).
Anyways, I'm just wondering what pieces of advice people have for someone going into such a big project with not much experience?
Are there any common mistakes to look out for? Any tips on organising parts? Any specific places I should be taking photos? Anything I should be really making sure I don't mix up?

TLDR: Tips and tricks for someone fairly inexperienced, completing an H swap or any engine swap

I appreciate the help

Hey we want all the build threads! Not many people update their build threads and just dissappear.

Don't forget to add pics as well!

Did you search this topic and look at the threads I established in the FAQ's?
I answered many question in my Hswap threads.

I recommend you look for someone local to you to help with the swap, who has experience with engine swaps.

Your biggest issues are:
  • Swap kit
  • Traction bar
  • Engine harness

Then from there, after swapping out the motor and transmission, shifter and cables, it becomes understanding wiring of a car and what goes where.
You will need a PDF copy of the ETM for both the 88-91 Prelude and the 92-96 Preludes.
Learn how to read those ETM's.
If you get my old kit its mostly bolt up.

And of the left over kits that were copies of my kit should bolt right up.

I have read all the threads at least once, multiple times for some.

I have bought the H swap kit from Prelude Engineering with a traction bar.

I'll have a look around and see if there's anyone who could help me.

Thanks

Just an update as to where I'm at for anyone interested, and a question where I've gotten stuck.
I have taken off half the intake system, but there's the world's most stupidly located bolt holding the bottom half in underneath the throttle body.
Have taken off the radiator because I can guarantee you it would get smacked by something during the swap and break and that is one of the few actually good newish parts on the car. I have drained all the fluids, released fuel pressure, and started disconnecting the throttle body.

However (here is the first of many probably obvious, simple questions to come),, I got to the point in the service manual engine removal guide where it says to remove the fuel return hose, which I assume is what I have circled below. I have tried every obvious way of removing it but can't get it off. Is it a matter of brute force or is there something i'm missing? Can't find anything else in the service manual.
