Main and rod torque specs - Confusion

I'm starting to assemble the B20a5 tonight. I own both a Chilton and a Haynes repair/service manual. Both repair manuals list different toque specs for these particular parts: Main bearing caps, and piston rod bearings.

From Helms manual (factory shop manual)
Rod, FI engine: 34 lbs
Rod, Carb engine: 23 lbs
Crank caps: 51 lbs.
(Oil threads and under bolt head)

Here is what is listed in each manual:

Main bearings/caps

Crank caps Honda Helms = 51 ft/lbs. (Oil threads and under bolt head)
1988-1989 B20a5 Chilton = 48 ft/lbs
1988 B20a5 Haynes = 49 ft/lbs
1989 B20a5 Haynes = 51 ft/lbs

Connecting rods/bearings

Rod F.I Engine Honda Helms = 34 ft/lbs
Rod, Carb engine Honda Helms = 23 ft/lbs
1988-1989 B20a5 Chilton = 23 ft/lbs
1988-1989 B20a5 Haynes = 33 ft/lbs
1988-1989 B20a3 Haynes = 23 ft/lbs

According to Chilton, the 1988 B20a5 is somehow different than the 1989 B20a5. Or is it?
So... What are the Honda torque specs? What have you used? Any Honda techs here that would verify this for me please?

I just ordered 6 coolant hoses, a speedo cable (lower), and a main seal from Majestic. I just realized the main/crank seals were not in the gasket set.

Kind of off the topic a bit, but do you guys think I can reuse the oil pump? RockAuto wants like $260 for a damn oil pump.

stock coolant hoses... nice
my poor car has become a blend of various slightly different than stock hose substitutes. bulk hoses never seem to fit very well to me.
Did you find some of the smaller hoses discontinued when you were ordering?

Well... I'm not sure what was discontinued, but these hoses are small.

In the diagram, hoses: 18, 19, 21, 25, 27, 31
RockAuto had some of these, and I think they were more expensive.

____

I ordered stuff from RockAuto: Water pump, crankshaft seal, radiator cap.

I ordered more stuff from Import Auto Parts: timing belt tensioner, oil filler cap.

That should cover all of the bottom end and most of the top end. Still need a B21a1 head gasket but might be getting one from someone. :-D

the truth is that gsket is not very time consuming to replace while in the car. I say go felpro. I used the felpro set on mine for everything but the headgasket, I used stock on that. The head gasket that failed was about a year old felpro so I figured the stock one was the way to go. I actually had put an entire felco kit in, and the only prob was with the HG. When I switched out the HG I reused everything else.
