As some may know. There will be a barrage of updates coming very very soon. Instead of sifting through all these pages. Like the facebook page. It will be much easier to keep up with the progress!!!

Sorry for no introduction Ill get to that next. Just turned 17 too! :)

So I have been working on this for a bit. And only have had a thread on HT, PZ, and PO. So I thought I would come here and get some insight! Thanks for looking!
So just recentley I bought a 1993 honda prelude VTEC with 205k miles quarter panel rust, and cooling problems. But you cant beat $525 bucks for it!
The plans right now are to fix the cooling problems, the rust, paint. We also plan on cleaning up the engine bay. We have a welder and thought we would put it to use. Also, other plans consist of suspension work. We will be somewhat slow and low. 8)

Not bad at all for 500 bucks! how is the motor?

I feel pretty lucky to have this and be 16, and working on it with my dad. Should be great fun! And it was beat. haha Also there were mice in the car. :/
This car had mice. And in attempt at finding his little nest, we just started taking **** off. And we need to fix the AC controls because something was wrong with the cable, or we were missing a piece. So it started as just finding the mice. And turned into alot more. And the refurbishing starts here.

Image

Just the trunk all cleaned up. It was gross. Wires galore from the person who made it all janky.
Image

Image

I think that use to be the OEM sub's place. IDK
Image

ALOT of wires we ripped out
Image

All the stuff all organized, and everything labeled. Organized=The way I like it!
There was much more added as well.
Image

Thats the last of em.

Guy from my dads work forgot the equipment to do the compression test. But we were able to do a leak down test. And everything seemed good. And we didnt find anything wrong with the head. But ne ways, just have 2 photos for now. The seats were out and everythign was cleaned spotless! Makes me love the car again even with the rust! And no mice!
Image

We turned back the years on this car! ****ty ENV 1 pics dont do the interior justice. Speaking of turning back years, this car was made on the same exact day I was born. Same day, month and year. I thought that was cool. And the time that it actually was off the assembley line was dated aswell. So Im actually about 8 hours older. hahaha!
Image

Not stains on the seats, just the way the grain is setting.
BTW for now Im not building it. Just returning it kind of to OEM, but will do suspension work, and looking at getting some sprinthart cpr's. And some engine stuff. But its all about making it run good, and make it look good. Then after that. Who knows.

There was a huge problem with the cars cooling. The person before us hit something and gashed a hole in the radiator. So we have major cooling issues and we also have idling issues. :/
Image

This is the liquid that dripped out of the motor hose inlets. Its suppose to be green, but instead is a uncirculated rusty brownish color. hahaha
Image

Those are holes in the old radiator. I decided i would play hookie from school today and pull it, its much more fun than school! haha
Image

New one.

Not much. But a little progress, alot for me though, considering school for 10 hours a day.
Image

Core support that was bent way way back! Person hit something prior to us owning it. :/
Image

Hard to tell in this pic, but the core support is as straight as a ruler.
Image

Lastly, I was going to take bolts and brackets off and paint them, but ended up taking off motor mounts! hahaha... but got those blasted and painted! :)

Again not much.
Image

The radiator mounted on.
Image

Just some little things painted.

VC done. BTW this was not big news. lol
Image

Image

FINISHED PRODUCT
Image

Got all of my gaskets for cooling and the VC. ANd Majestic sent out my radiator hose. And I have a MIG welder on the way! :)
Also Got my helm manuals... As you can tell Im not directly working on the car now. Im buying stuff to start working on the car. -.-
Should have the car running by thursday tho.
Image

Image

HUGE ANOUNCEMENT!!!! Tonight my father and I replaced all of the cooling stuff that we planned. And not only did coolant finally start flowing and cooling the motor. But the fans came on which I was sure were all broke. And the car no longer has a bad idle!!! It idles great and does not even fludder or consider stalling out. I ♥ my prelube again!!!! Now I need a new exhaust.
Anyone have one for sale.

6/29/10
The car idles fine when just sitting. But still has problems when driving. Also I just bought some Tein type basic coilovers and they should be here tomorrow. Im super dooper happy. After that I need brakes, and an exhaust.

Ok guys got the teins. And Im super happy. BTW My buddy GReddy likes to get in pictures. lol. Mind him. -.-
Image

Image

Image

^^^ lol
Image

I got my first paycheck and found these for $300 dollars. Almost as much as the car. Hahahaha

Anyone want a teaser picture.
Image

Ill take pictures of the stance when I get the rear done tonight. Im proud of myself too.. My parents gone for a week (aka my dad the true mechanic gone) and I was able to do this with no real suspension experience.

Car lowered. Big thanks to my friend Ben coming over and helping me on the rears. BTW the car looks great, and Im tucking major tire in the front.
Image

Its hard to look good with dents and rusted quarters.
More quality pics tomorrow when its nice and sunny. =)

Trying to be cool but failing.

Not cool still.

Just got back from napa and bought my pads and rotors...
Image

...And $50 bucks worth of sand paper and polish. Can Anyone guess what Im going to do with sand paper and polish? lol
Image

Ill post pics of each stage of the sand rocess tonight. They wont get done (wheels) But Ill show progress.

NOTE: Later found out he sold me rotors for an accord. But we got that all squared away!

My thumbs are killing me.
Hahaha
After 180 grit. Bad Cell pic.
Image

Im pretty mcuh done with 600 Grit now. Ill take a better pic.

Image

Ok this is after sanding with 600 grit. As you can see the scratches from the grittier sand papers are slowly coming out. The whole point of using finer paper (for those who dont know) every new step is to take out the lines of the previous sand paper. But the wheels are starting to come out nice. Ill take a pic of the finished wheel, and what it used to look like. All I have to do now is wet-sand the wheel with 800, 1000, 1500, and 2000. Then polish it with mothers polisher. I may paint the inside of the spokes gold first.

This is after wetsanding it with 800 grit.
Image

And this is what it use to look like.
Image

Image

First wheel polished. BTW the angles or shadows make the shine look poopy. But it really looks good.

But forgot to do my little useless update. :)
Image

Well I was bored. And daddy picked up an oil pan stud that i broke :)ugh:), plus an oil pan gasket, and oil. So we replaced the gasket and cleaned up teh bottom of the motor which was covered in oil. And now there are no more leaks. And the old oil pan gasket was a bitch to get off because the previous owners glued the ****ing gasket on because they couldnt align it right with the holes. :/
More updates thursday. Exhaust related.

Ok guys here is an update for the mofo'ing bad. While i was driving the car today the driver side front wheel came off.
But the great thing is that it didnt damage anything that is important to the way the car handles or runs. It chewed up the front fender tho. SO NOW I NEED A DRIVER SIDE FRONT FENDER AND INNER FENDER!!!!
I would love to buy just the one fender or I would buy a set of JDM fenders. Thanks guys for the help in my time of need. hahahaha And yes im ok and was able to fix it on the spot... Yay for the rigid prelude body!

Just some fun pictures. :(
Image

Image

And to top off this whole experience. and make you laugh a little at the end. :)
Image

So a cool update for the theives that could be watching my thread. My dad does business with a guy that puts Lojack in his trucks. And the guy decided he was going to hook our family car and my prelude with a new post-prototype system. Its called MMTS which stands for Multi Micro-chip Tracking System. It is a service by Lojack where they install alot of small microchips throughout the car that dont need an intenna and run on their own batteries. The cool thing about this system is that if one is disconnected from the others it sets off the car stolen report. The only way to disconnect them is with authorization from Lojack. These are past the prototype stage and are being used on my dads semis. And are set to be released to every consumer by 2013. FU theives.

Kind of a weak update. But an update none the less...
Image

The header painted with high temp paint... Also took all the studs out and refinished them

Got my midpipe and gaskets today, and some hangers.
Image

Monster truck status! Enough room for me and pops to move.
Image

Image

My new perty looking header.

Got my exhaust.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Ok guys one of my buddies came over and helped me out with my exhaust! We got that on but have a really really bad exhaust leak on the mid pipe where the flexy thing is. :( Made the car sound all leaky. Also when driving it, it was doing the hesitation, so we pulled the code and it was a 4 and 2. MAP sensor.

Bored so i figured I would upload pics. :)
Image

My babies!!
Image

Picture of the very nicely polished wheel in sun. (and rust)
Image

Hehe... Thats how the whole car looks. chips everywhere.

I like them colors. Im trying to stay away from the reds and blues. To, generic. I guess idk.
Well I got my header in yesterday but was to tired to do anything. This thing is actually pretty nice. And it will turn a BA color. But it is good for what I paid. :)

So my best friend that filled in the spot for my brother when he left for the air force; also just left for the airforce and left me depressed and sad. :(
Lol but a little gift from him was a free F22 motor. lol minus the manual tranny. Probably needs rebuild. Im prolly going to just take it apart for fun, and possibly rebuild it. IDK.
Image

Also when I went in the barn to get the motor his dad had 4 sets of brand new TL and TSX sport package wheels. Which all cost around $2500 dollars each. lol
I tried to score a set but wasnt allowed.
Ill miss you Benjamin cant wait to see you again! And same to my bro Steven!

i think it's awesome that you and your dad are able to share this as a project car...it's a lot of fun, and a great learning experience...that car has a lot of potential, and so far it looks good as it is...looks like you have good taste on the stuff you do...good luck with everything man, and welcome to the addiction!

#19 ·
The dc header you have will make more power than the ebay one, i have seen where the ebay headers actually make less power than stock but maybe this one is different.

#21 ·
To each their own i just dont see losing power and possibly efficiency just to have a stainless coated header.

#22 ·
Not being a jerk or anything, just trying to save you some headaches, ive learned the hard way too many times lol

#24 ·
Its cool man, so what part of ohio are u from?
