Alright.. so, a couple of years ago Mother's Window Tint (did I mention I'm on the "Save A 'Lude" program?) did a tint job for the previous owner, and I guess they nicked the rear window seal because the whole thing is now rusted, along with bubbles in the tint (apparently $100 to fix). I was wondering where I might be able to get a new seal. Here's a pic of what I'm talkin' about..

Anyone know of a good place?

TIA

yeah pull it off and have it powder coated so you will never have to worry about it again....they will strip the rust and all off of it so you dont have to worry about it...i know a guy here in town who does that stuff for a really decent price with extremely great quality...its in Virginia but hey its an idea that will work...i can get his website if you would like

You mean take the seal off and paint it?

yeah but if you just replace it it will happen again over time where as if you powder coat it and the person that does it knows what they are doin then it will last the life of the car....podwer coating last way longer than car paint if done right....i know someone who does it very well and could give you a hell of a deal on it probably cheaper than replacing it and he doesnt just seal it he strips everything from it paint and rust and then powder coats it...trust me well worth the money

$75?!? Damn! I was expecting like $15.

Maybe painting with a seal isn't too bad of an idea.

this guy that i know powder coats a 17 in rim for 45 bucks so for your seal it shouldnt be much at all and if you ship it to him he will do it the day he recieves it and ships it back so it will only be a week or two for a life long finish

well umm. tint is supposed to be on the inside of the window glass not the outside. so the window seal has nothing to do with the tint job. unless they really no0bed the tint job and did it on the outside. that would be gay. but yeah the weather stripping seal is bound to deteriorate over time. i'd just sand all the rust out. prime and paint it. or powder coat it. hey do u have a pic of it powder coated?

mine was just like the too..
i took a utility knife and cut all the peeling material off, sanded the rust off, taped it up really really well (overspray=bad) and sprayed it with ten to 15 light coats of black krylon rust tough.

there you have it.

the plastic on this seal looked really bad, so i did this one too (a little harder, but very do-able)

so... for five bucks and a little patience, it's not bad

Window seal?

I guess that window seal is a common problem because mine is going south!! Not as bad as yours but getting there. I like the powder coating idea!!! Thought about just painting it but i guess it will come back unless you really put the primer to it!!

Thanks for the idea!!

Mine was really nasty and rusted, too. My boyfriend is a Honda tech, I got a new one for $60. The new ones seem to be different, not a painted metal piece like the old ones. It seems like a hard rubber piece, so it wont rust.

Perception issue

Is #4 the part that I need to order to replace that bottom strip that cracks and peels on our ludes? Do I need anything else, I guess I am asking those that have done this before. Looks easy, a few screws to undo the clips.
