Hi everyone

My 2001 Prelude does this thing where it seems to lose power for a second while I'm driving--at first I noticed it with the radio shutting off and coming back on. Now I noticed that the gauges all shut off and restart. It happened once in awhile before and now suddenly it happens a lot more frequently, but I haven't noticed an issue with the engine or at least it is so quick that it's hard to notice.

This morning when it did it, the lights on the dash flashed on, too, and the ABS light stayed on. When I went to drive it again the light was off.
Any ideas?

+1 for ignition switch, that's textbook failure.

Check to see if your car has the recall done, call up Honda and they should be able to look it up by VIN.

Ignition switch or a bad ground. Check the ground from your starter and alternator.

Sounds like a bad ground.

To me it sounds like a charging circuit failure. I had a short on my Civic where the alternator would intermittently stop charging. With the small 1.6L the car would run on just battery for a little while, but once the voltage there was gone, it would lose power as the alternator short came and went.

It's simple since it's so insanely common, start the car and jiggle the key without turning it back too much, if it dies then it needs the electrical portion of the ignition switch.
