Did someone engine swap it? From the factory honda never offered a v6 in a prelude. I know honda accords came with v6s. It is weird that somebody would put a v6 in a prelude.
I personally wouldn't purchase a salvage titled car unless it were cheap and I intended to make it into a track only car.Hello everyone,
I am currently looking in the market for a used car and have come across a 1998 HONDA PRELUDE that I am considering for purchasing. The car has a salvage title and it is priced at $4,050.00.
I would like to get some advice from the forum members on whether or not this is a good buy. The car has a V6, 3.5L engine and seems to be in good condition from the pictures I have seen. However, I am a bit concerned about the salvage title.
I understand that a salvage title means that the car has been in an accident or suffered some sort of damage that resulted in the insurance company deeming it a total loss. While the car may have been repaired, there could still be underlying issues that I am not aware of.
So, I would like to ask for your thoughts and opinions on whether or not it is worth purchasing a car with a salvage title. Is there anything I should be looking out for in particular when inspecting the car? Would it be better to spend a bit more money on a car with a clean title?
I appreciate any advice and insight you can provide. Thank you in advance for your help.
V6 swaps are becoming common in the 5th gen world. I have a few friends with them done in 5th gens and i'm sure many others are in the process with the available information and swap kits out there.Did someone engine swap it? I didn’t know that! But then again I have a 3rd gen.I personally wouldn't purchase a salvage titled car unless it were cheap and I intended to make it into a track only car.
There are many Preludes out there available for under 5k that need only minor work that most are not willing to put in.
The listing stating it has a v6 is a little suspicious as mentioned, if it were swapped - never buy someone else's project.

Hello Guys, thanks for all the comments. I checked out additional information on this vehicle from Premium VIN, and what I found made me forget the idea of buying the vehicle, the vehicle was involved in an accident and had over 4 previous owners, it's old and outdated, and my daughter won't like it.Hello everyone,
