So, I have a 89 prelude si I purchased a lil over a month ago, and my fuel gauge isn't reading, it's stuck on full. Looking at the tank there is a connection on the drivers side and passenger side. The drivers side has two wires and and the passenger has three. Which side is the reader and where does the ground connect. I looked under the car where the back seat is and I don't see anything grounded there. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

There are two hatches covered by round lid under the back seat. You need passenger side hatch. Check the manual, there is procedure for removing the fuel sending unit. My guess it is just stuck. Check the forum as well if I remember correctly there are several write-ups regarding fuel sending unit.

Fuel gauge sender unit is farthest from the fuel filler (passenger side on LHD cars). Link below is to the on-line service manual, look under:
"1988 Prelude Workshop Manual"
click on "Fuel Injected Engine" under Fuel and Emissions
click on "Fuel Tank" half way down right column.

Information on the fuel gauge sender unit is shown in the Electrical section of the manual.

From the on-line manual page 16-26, the sender unit is grounded at G401, G402 and G471.

If I remember correctly, the sending unit pulls the gauge to empty so a broken wire will cause the gauge to read full. Someone please correct me if otherwise.
