Adding to this as Blake and I have been talking about it. I don’t think these could have been original to the car because I think the 5 spoke directionals (42700-SF1-A11 & 42710-SF1-A11) were 90-91 options. Here are images from 88, 89, and 90 brochures (credit prelude3g.com)
1988 USDM Brochure
1989 USDM Brochure
1990 USDM Brochure
Zooming in on the 1990 brochure, the writing and directional arrow on the outer face of the wheel is visible (like the gold car’s wheels above).
So it seems like maybe Honda made a slight change in the wheels from 90 to 91? Blake’s wheels being 5 1/8 instead of 5 1/2” is news to me. I checked the set I picked up and they are like Blake’s where they have the information under the center cap (they were from a 1991 as well) but they are 5 1/2.
Very interested to hear if someone knows the answer to this one. Prelude3g.com doesn’t have the 1991 brochure uploaded, so if anyone happens to have one, it would be interesting to see what it depicts for the wheel options.
