I know how to turbo a car. But i'm trying to understand compressor maps. Finding it a bit confusing. Can some one explain it?

Searched on google. Didn't help much.

-the higher up vertically on the flow map, the higher the pressure.
-the further to the right, the higher the volume of air.
-closer to the middle of the circles is higher efficiency (better flow), further out is lower efficiency (worse flow).
-the curvy vertical line to the far left is the surge line (aka surge limit). to the left of the surge line is where compressor surge is guaranteed to happen, which can and usually does damage the turbo, and will give for really crappy flow and power. this is the area where the turbo is trying to push too high of pressure at too low of a compressor wheel rpm.
-the curvy horizontal lines are compressor wheel rpm
