Hi All,

I was driving my car and it suddenly lost power. When I hit the throttle, it feels like it has no power, so I pulled over. When I rev the engine, the rpm revs/climb a little slower than normal but drops very very fast.

The check engine light came up and threw a code 3 - Map sensor

Could this be a bad MAP sensor or a vacuum leak?

Drove slowly to the mechanic and asked him to find a used MAP sensor in the junkyard now... will it solve my problem?

Have also notice that code 3 and code 5 are the same map sensor. Is it true?

yup. 3 means its either unplugged electrically, theres a short in the wiring, or the sensor is bad. usually means the sensor is bad.

5 means the vacuum line is leaking or unplugged, and rarely but sometimes means the sensor is bad.

replacing the map sensor should fix your problem, i have faith!! :-D

Thanks guys... I'll just cross my fingers and hope that the mechanic can find one in the junkyard. Is it interchangeable with other honda models??

Yeah, I beleive all (Or at least most) Honda MAP sensors can be swapped. They just mount differently, but thats not a big deal.
