Went to order a carbon fiber hood and was told there is a shortage because the military uses it for vest and other stuff. Who has the best prices on hoods when you can get them ?? IDEAS!!!

very true, but what carbon fiber is sourced from is (polyacrylonitrile) correct me if i mispelled that.

But making the material takes special equipment, and only a few companies have it. They supply the fabric to the companies that make hoods and fenders and shift knobs and stuff. Seibon and Vis might get their carbon fiber from the same company, for all I know. So if those few suppliers are getting their supply bought up by armor manufacturers, they have less cloth left for hood and fender manufacturers.

Finding carbon isn't hard. Making thread out of it is.

yep. i heard it's cuz of some jets in the uk with cf wings. damn jets.

The only thing I can add is that Kaminari has been out of the cf business for years. Out of business as in they have ben claiming a shortage forever, while other companies have and still continue to sell.
