hey guys im about to take off the ac lines and when i started to losen them and it started hising i no it is presureized but whats in the lines liquid just air i am not planing to put ac back in it so im not worried about that but just wondering if i should use thoese release valves to depress it.

The "hissing you hear is called freon (it is the refrigerant gas that the AC uses...I'm assuming you still have an R-12 system...unless it was retrofitted). The proper thing to do was to evacuate all the freon out of the system (and not release it into the atomosphere). If you care about the environment, that is what you will do...otherwise, just live with your guilty conscious.

If you plan on never installing it back, then just sell the compressor to someone who needs it. Otherwise, you should at least seal the fittings where the lines enter the components prior to storage.

thanks man i wish i read this before i did it but i just let it out in my garage but thanks for the tip
