I just bought a 1990 Honda Prelude Si 2.1L. It has a b21a1 motor Anyone know about this motor? I know it's like a b20 but anyone know about how good the b21a1 is?

B21 had some oil burning problems if regular oil and filter services weren't done. This is due to aluminum-based cylinder wall material that eats piston rings when lubrication becomes inadequate. B21 had slightly more power than the B20A5 due to higher compression ratio and larger displacement, but most people would agree that the very small increase in power does not outweigh the potential for oil burning. The B20A5 was considered more reliable because of this. If you're going to have bottom end work (boring/honing) done on a B21 you have to make sure the machine shop has the right tools for it. That's the biggest thing.

B21 gets a lot of hate but it's a fine engine if you take care of it. It's just a little more finicky than an engine with typical cast iron cylinder walls.
