I want HID's on my ride .

I was wondering if anyone else has HID already.

I want a headlight that allows me to plug a hid bulb into them without having to worry about the headlight catching fire.

I don't want to run knock off tainted blue xenon bulbs cause i had them on a different car and later on had turn signal switch issues,.. it might have not even been related but I don't want to take chances.

since I just got my tax return i figure this might give me a chance to do something really cool I might not realy generally be able to afford to do.

any and all info will be appreciated.

thank you.

my best advice is to look in the 5th gen forum, because all of those guys are doing hid retrofits all the time. looks pretty simple given some talent and money.

You would have to upgrade the wiring to use true HID bulbs. But that is not so hard, because they sell upgraded wiring for upgrades like that.

It comes with the relays, thicker guage wire, and the proper plugs for the bulbs themselves. You can find it on ebay and other performance shops. The kit will probably cost you about $30.00 or so for the wiring kit. The lights and new housings are going to be a bit different in price.

Just make sure to buy a housing that is made of real glass and a metal backhousing not dicast metal, true metal or else it will melt.

I would suggest taking a look at www.hidplanet.com/forums
You might get some ideas from there, also check these threads:

for the sake of other drivers on the road, don't just go and put a rebased HID kit into a set of H4 conversion headlights, the glare will be terrible, and the amount of usable light will be minimal

What I mean by a rebased bulb, is a regular HID capsule with a halogen base, for example... a D2S bulb with a H4 base. Most of these kits contain cheap components, and can have a shorter life span. That and the focal point of the light is not the same as it would be for a regular halogen bulb, creating a poor light source.

Wait til preludetyper sees this. He has HID's in his lude. You have to make the projector housing, but the wiring is plug and play if you get the kit.
