Just installed a new head gasket bc i had bad compresion and coolant loss, now that i fixed that, my car starts up and jumps all the way to 4k rpm and stays there, ive tried adjust the idle speed screw and other screws ok the carburator and of course they arent helping. Ive chrcked for any disconected hoses and havent seen any. I even tried covering up the intake hkse to see if it eas getting tm air and that do nun ethier. I dont know what to do'l

Also the car goes down to 2k when u put it in drive or reverse

Do you have vacuum leaks? Even though that would make it barely idle. I am guessing something in your carb isn’t right.

I dont have any leaks and i dont think it could be a carb issue because it just got rebuilt, so idk what to do.

Is the choke staying on And not coming off? You might have your fast idle set too high.
