Selling a 3rd gen front bumper with lower lip. Here are some details:

  • original Phoenix red paint
  • no cracks, tears, nor deformation, all mounting tabs intact
  • Zenki (1988-89 pre-facelift) styling, but fits 1990-91 models as well
  • includes metal mounting brackets
  • includes OEM lower lip - These are installed on non-US Preludes, no longer available
  • original UK -spec bumper, hence the UK license plate mounting size

Preludes in the UK did not undergo facelift until 1991, that’s why the writing on this bumper says “1990.” I think the bumper lip really adds a nice and subtle touch to the front of the car, something I feel the USDM Preludes really lacked.

Asking $200, or your reasonable offer. I am located in the Boston Metro, and not shipping, but can meet locally. I know Preludes are rare in New England, but maybe someone will have use for this. Thanks for looking and stay safe.

I would buy it if I were closer. My car is red and the bumpers have almost turned pink. And the 88-89 style is pretty cool!
Is that a photograph of the actual lip on the blue car or just an example? If not do you have a photograph of it, and would you consider selling it separate from the bumper?
Hi, it is an identical example of the lip I'm selling. I will admit, it has been raining on the days I have time to take pictures. I have some time later today, and will snap another pic or two and upload.

I could consider selling, but shipping is going to expensive, and I see you have a 1991. Please note that the lip won't fit on the 1990-91 bumpers perfectly.
I was planning on driving up since i'm in NYC and I have friends in the area (I lived in New Bedford for 3 years a decade ago). I should have asked if it fit the 90-91 before posting.

I'll probably end up with the 1funryd remake. Just got excited about an actual OEM piece, since I'm aiming for an OEM+ restoration.

Count me out of this one. Thanks for the reply.
Damn, where was this 10 years ago? LOL I was really wanting one of these when I was working on the 89 Si I used to have. I was all about reducing weight and wanted to ditch the heavy USDM bumper support and go with the lighter weight one this bumper has. I even had the smoked corner lights like the car in the pic. And I don't care that you're across the country...I'd have made the drive from WA state to MA for that thing.

Good luck with the sale!
Thanks for the feedback, Nostalgic.

luzer, the UK bumpers have less crash-absorbing metal in them? The overall size / shape looks to be pretty similar.
No, it is available.
This is admittedly a "pull a search" question -- but do the 90-91 fog lights fit in those lower openings? I would assume modification would need to be made? And the corner lights and turn signals are also specific to the 88-89 (just using these dates as usdm equivalent to the "pre/post face lift) -- meaning you can't use the 90-91 lights in this correct?

Also, is there wiring modifications that need to be done since the 88-89 doesn't have the side marker lights? Or is that more of a don't plug that harness in and the rest will work fine sort of scenario?
Well I answered most of my questions regarding changing the wiring via the write up on prelude3g.com. It also seems like you need the 88-89 fog lights which makes sense.

I was asking because I guess I am interested in the entire bumper and lip. It is a pretty sweet thing and the more I’m looking at it the more I like it versus the 90-91 usdm version I currently have.

Correct, the fog light mounting provisions between the two styles are different, and therefore need those respective lights.
For some reason prices on those lights have increased on eBay. They used to be dirt cheap just three years back. I almost feel that buying the lights from OCONUS (including shipping) is cheaper than buying from the US Honda hoarders.
Please note that you would have to buy the hardware to mount; essentially hardware store threaded clips and 10 mm bolts. I also noticed there’s also this “flap” that secure to the fender liner, the lip can still be mounted without that.
There’s a possibility I might be headed towards New York in June.

Yeah a lot of the parts on ebay are priced unrealistically.

If you are coming to NYC I'll buy it. I can meet you wherever. I'm going to look into sourcing lights and hardware. Usually that type of hardware is still available from Honda. I'm sure I can find the light in a junk yard if I keep my eyes open. PM me if you have plans to drive south.
