Blood,Sweat and TEARS !!!

Greetings Fellow Luders

Welcome to my build thread

This is no epic thread its all about blood, sweat and tears and a empty wallet for a LONG TIME !!!
And I decided to start it in the RECESION (Very Cleaver Dont you THINK lol)

Unfortunatly I cannot disclose of what I will be doing, but letts just say its gonna be one of a kind as this will be the only one of its kind on my continent !!! (I live in South Africa)

Please understand that updates may be not so frequent as money is a problem and for items to reach South Africa it will take time and customs takes their sweet time

Well the story of my lude is the following

The car was made in Japan like most honda’s for the EDM market and then it was sent to South Africa and distributed by Mercedes-Benz,
But the radio was from Mercedes (a becker on to be exact)

This car belonged to my dad and was his favourite, but he wont always admit it as he is an 80’s Merc lover
As he was one of the best salesman and Cargo East Germiston(the dealership) and got to drive many Honda’s and mercs
But before him the car belong to these owners who where a bit careless (assholes) anyways sorry to jump but then my dad was also involved in an accident where a taxi bus t-boned the lude, but he refused to give up on it
and got it fixed and while he was doing that he got it sprayed Champaign from that nasty copper colour !!!
But he did do a half job on that as the engine bay still that original colour, but as with all accidents the lude was never the same
And I still suspect that the rear suspension is not 100%

I had a an accident about three years ago, I just spent money doing up car putting a cat free 57mm free flow and a matching
Branch (which is now on sale lol),so as I was leaving I went a bit too fast hit a oil patch spun around twice and mounted the pavement

Eventually got the car home basically limping and the camber so off !!!, then took it to this useless place they charged me the earth
And its still not right, I hit the pavement so hard a piece of the lip on the ex rim broke off!!! And when I hit the pavement my keys flew
Out the car (my car was recently Brocken into before that and they busted my lock so you could basically pull the keys out while driving)

That’s what you call bad luck

This is how I got the car except for the crystal head lights
these were Hella spots and rattled like crazy so I removed them !!!

Exhaust System

I went through 2 and thecurrent exhaust system

Here is the original that my dad did

It was a 50/45mm combo system with a mix of mild and stainless steel and rotten rear box

I then changed the back box to this mugen knock off



Then I spend big money and got a powerflow 57mm stainless system with no cat 4-1 header and BMW rear style box, if you notice the tail pieces are in different positions for that BMW E90 look

In the picture you will that I changed the steering wheel, only the last year I have really been into the whole lude scene




I started with a LED conversion but I changed my mind as I will be Rare Digi Style - FTW !!!

Here is some pics of my motor when it was STD - these are EDM Carbs so that means they run without the emission crap

I then painted the valve cover Red and modded the air box



Can you notice that the Breather filter from the air box to the valve cover has been removed for a cleaner look

Tim now has these carbs and for stock carbs they look neat none of that emmission shit

Things All went wrong

So I got a minifold from NZ to SA and it took long time to get here with a lot of trouble with customs

I then drove about 150km to get these rebuild weber 40 DCOE



A test fit got me phyced for the whole thing



Advice from Rich was really helpfull, thanks you are a legend at these dcoe's setup's !!!

The ugly truth was when the ports on the manifold ports where larger than the cylinder head ones and the head was removed to find the following



The Newish block had between 50- 80 km was rusting in the cylinder head sleeves !!!

All becuase when the new block was put in they didnt skim the head proberly causing this



Can you see once the head was cleaned out that the cylinder head had pits and would need fixing

I got so pissed I gave up on the motor but not on the lude (This will never happen) !!!

Suspension

After the accident this is the problem I am faced with



I pulled to suspension apart to do an inspection and this is my findings



At a closer look you can see that the strut is actually bent !!!



Here is the arm by the way this is all from the left rear






So I replaced this whole arm and with hub

I am still waiting for my GR2 shocks from ebay its nearly been 2 months !!! so I had to put the car back on the old shock (were I had to angle grind the nut off see pic above of strut) so I did this temp fix



Yes its a clamp holding it inplace

The worst thing is that I got a set of megan 90-97 accord coil over sleeves for my lude (big thanks to Tim) but no shocks

So before this weekend when I had enough of this shit, I decided to do my crude way the car was looking like this for about a month

i vote NH-82 Greek white, its a factory 2.0si color and looks real good or the factory metallic Grey which is G62M or something i would have to look it up again.
