Bad cat converter usually smells like rotten eggs, or something foul. Not sure what you are smelling. Is your car automatic or manual transmission?

I did my due diligence and tried searching the forums first to see if anyone else has asked this, but the site kept giving me an error saying search was disabled due to server load. So here I am.
I just recently bought a 2001 Prelude (base model) and everything looks and runs great. Underneath is super clean and there are no apparent leaks. The oil pan gasket is dry. However, whenever I drive it and get rpms near V-tech level, I start to smell a very gunpowdery smell. Not burning oil, but the best I know how to describe it is like burnt gunpowder. I've been paying attention to my oil levels, and it is clearly not burning oil. Besides, burning oil smells different. Plus I don't have any smoke.
Anyone experience this before? Is this what a bad cat converter smells like?

Do you have an EGR valve on the manifold? Which manifold is even on the car - H22a4 or Euro-R manifold?
For the car to pass emissions via an obd2 plug in test, you would need all of the same readings off the new motor as if it were the original - if that makes sense. The Euro-R motor in it's original state, would not put out those readings.
Inspect the quarters for rust, question the maintenance such as timing belt and water pump. Look in the trunk, beneath the carpet and spare tire, for water or signs of water (common issues due to tail light seals or clogged sunroof drain tubes). Inspect the car very very carefully for any signs of being repainted (overspray, sand paper marks, noticeably misaligned body panesl). Check the suspension for torn bushings (although uncommon at that low mileage, always good to check anyway). Be very very cautious due to the automatic transmission since they are known for having issues. If you're able to with an obd2 reader of some sort, check that the readiness codes are all set. If they are not, the check engine light has been recently cleared.
Even with the mileage, I would be hesitant spending $4,000 on a car that could potentially need $2,000 in maintenance and repairs within a short period. So ask questions

Looking at Purchasing a Prelude... Need your Advice on it
Thanks for the add! I am looking at getting a 5th gen prelude here in the near future. This will be my first ever owned car so Itīs quite exciting because I can now learn about the internals of a car and be able to work on one in the comfort of my own home. Here is a link that will take you to the Prelude I am currently looking at. It only has 109k miles and the paint is flawless. Unfortunately it is an automatic, but I am only getting automatic right now because my parents do not want me to get anything that is ancient, so I am hoping that the automatic transmission with low miles will help persuade them. let me know what you guys think about this prelude because I would hate to know I am getting ripped off.
Anyways, thanks for viewing and please do let me know what you think.

prelude code issues
1998 honda prelude with euro r swap
So I just recently bought the vechicle, and owner had down the euro swap on it. the car runs fine, idle stays around 1000 rpm's, vtec hits around 5500rpm's, throtle repsonse is great, etc..
I went to emmsions and my computer wasnt linking up to the cade scanner/diag computer.
So i hooked up the old one and it links up, awesome, so im driving home and the check engine starts flashing, (damn), so i took it to auto zone and got P1399 and P300.
To summarize, the codes were blocked egr passage, valve clearance out of range, fuel system concern, ignition system concern, MAF sensor faulty, HO22/AF, and clocked intake or exhaust system.
Could the codes be popping up because its a different engine? could I actually have those problems even tho my engine seems to be running just fine? is the computer screwed?
is there any differences in timing between euro r h22 and the original h22.
I need to get past emissions, any info you have would help. thanks.

Modification for an S2000 airbag?
I have an RSX steering wheel, and an S2000 AP1 airbag that I plan on installing on my 2000 Type SH.
This guy says "you need to make a small hole to accommodate for the ATTS system"
Any idea how true this is? Where do I need to make a hole?

Swap Help!!! New N00b
I have a 97 Prelude SH and I'm getting rid of the H22A4 - M2Y4 and I would like to put in a H22A - T2W4. I've been told numerous different things as to installation but it was never confirmed... So can anyone tell me what I really have to buy for this swap to work?*

Hi Guys, new here, but the search aint working at the moment... A quick question: Will a H22 exhaust manifold fit a F20A4 engine? I can get a seriously sweet deal on a new 4-2-1, but no use if it won't fit.
Thnx in advance!

Shocks and Struts
I have a 99 Prelude I bought a about a year ago and I'm getting joints and all inspected and replaced as need. This lead me to wanting to replace my Shocks and struts as well. I've been reading all over and I found the KYB AGX for a really good price but now I need springs, but prefer not to have lowered ones. Every were I look I only see people talking about lowering springs and online I can only find lowering springs. So my question is where can I find good stock height springs.

P0325 - 99 'Lude 2.3 SH
We've had this 1999 2.3L SH since '08 and have done all maintenance ourselves. A few months back started popping CELs. We got the EGR valve replaced and then started getting P0325 (knock sensor). We replaced the (broken) knock sensor and all the intake gaskets etc. The P0325 cleared and all the DTC checks passed. Less than 24 hours later the CEL was back with P0325. We have already verified the knock sensor is still good (we didn't break it putting the intake manifold back in). Cleared the codes and it came back within 10 minutes. Cleared again and it was more than 24 hours before it came back. Intermittent issues are the worst. Please help! Can't pass emissions with P0325.

Visors and side view mirrors - partouts here, ebay, facebook marketplace, craigslist etc.
Can't help with audio and security items
Depends on how bad your exhaust really is. Just dirty or falling apart? Depending on what it's made of - could use a restoration. I personally scuffed my header down and painted it silver with high temp paint. As for the exhaust - painted that black and kept a polished tip.

rebuilding a beat up 1997 manual base, need certain parts
i finally got around to making an account even though on my second lude (1997 Prelude base manual) the other weekend the captcha puzzles were fucking retarded i literally did 40 of them or more and still couldnt make an account. probably cuz i threw my phone on the 40th or so correct answer just to be asked to click on more bus's lol
okay so i need some help locating...
-passenger side rear view mirror
-passenger side sun visor
-budget aftermarket remote kill switch / gps / ejection seats / etc via cell connection NOT 2g, 3g or better
-budget 1 or 2 channel amp to supplement the one i already put in
-budget 12 to 18 in woofer to go with secondary amp
-bang for buck exhaust / headers reccomendations
-a big aftermarket center rear view mirror. not 400mm. For my last lude and benz I found a classy solution in modifying a $14 truck mirror from oreilleys to fit my 97 e420 benz by mounting it onto the passenger sun visor. it worked fine until i flipped it (the car, not the visor). the mirror in question fit uncomfortably in my last lude (4th gen) and my 5th gen it doesnt fit at all, it simply takes up a dangerous amount of visibility and i need something smaller. like 550mm maybe... any advice would be appreciated
-my exhaust looks like... ill keep it civil for my first post. my exhaust looks bad. lol sand that shit down then polish perhaps? its completely black
--edit-- o yeah and i have this poorly done / heavily weathered rear tint which is like a hot pocket. crispy tasty tender flaky crust. how do i get this bullshit off without harming the heating filament / antennae on the rear glass?

Whichever your high grade gasoline is for your area - that's what you should run. Not everyone has 93 readily available so 91 or 92 will do just fine.

fuel grade question
quick question, ive heard a few rumors about the h22 being sort of specific to needing premium gas??? i also have a jetta 1.8t and i can tell you that running 93 makes a big difference. i just got my prelude a few days ago and was just looking for some sort of input. thanks

Hey guys, having a few issues.
Have a 97 with an h23a swap and im getting a cel p0113.
Obvious choice was to swap the iat but that was to no avail.
I jumped the wires and got no change in the IAT reading.
Anyone have a diagram as to where the wires from the sensor go exactly?
I know one is a ground but if i get the others location i can check for continuity and such.

im a pretty big noob when it come to swaps so if anyone can give me some help that would be great,
I have a 5th gen lude and going to get a euro r swap , I have done tons of reading on doing it with the euro r ecu but recently found out it has a speed governor built into ecu .
I have tried to find information regarding a obd2 to obd1 conversion but this topic seems to be lacking in info, other than the obvious distributor change and rywire conversion harness and either p28,or p72 ecu with conversion harness, what exactly is needed to complete this swap regarding electrical and also mechanical?
do I still have to swap the oil pump and fuel rail/injectors, and get the iacv adapter plate ?
would really appreciate all the help I can get!

I believe I may have seen someone post that car on Facebook. it's a 92-96 4th gen Prelude
Let it stay in that field. It will eat you alive in repairs if it's been sitting there as long as the owner says. Just by looking at the exterior - it will need a good amount of cosmetic repairs and an unknowing amount of rust removal on the underside from sitting in a field.
