Cool 89 Prelude Timing Belt

I Just bought my 1st Prelude. It is a 1989 Honda Prelude 2.0 S.I.. It is fuel injected. It needs a timing belt before I can get it running, I ordered the parts, but is it possible to fix this myself?? can there be more problems as well since the timing belt came off on them?? I was wondering if anyone has or will know how much a new engine would cost and transmission restored or a new transmission, I am going to make this car run good but would like some advice, this is my 1st project

i would suggest putting the new belt on and yes you can do it by your self. make sure it is at TDC (top dead center) compression and there are 2 holes in the cam to hold the cam in place while you install the belt. then turn it over by hand to make sure there is no interference(bent or broken valves) if all is good give it a start. of not you may want to pull the head and take it to a machine shop to get it done to make sure. that costs money though
