Gutted Trunk this weekend curious about rear strut tower bar?

Like the title says I completely gutted my trunk this weekend. (tire, jack, panels, the whole nine yards) Anyways I mainly did this to make my rear strut towers available. I was curious if anyone has any experience with rear strut bars in a 5th gen or if anyone would suggest anyone in particlular. Thanks in advance for any input.

Spoon sports if you can find one, tanabe makes one too and if you don't mind losing some trunk usability ESP's is the 'all-business'. There is always megan if you are really on a tight budget too

Thanks! Do you know where the best place to fine either the spoon or the tanabe? Also, how bad is the megan?

well spoon bars you would have to look in classifieds for (Spoon only made them for a short time, but are very sought after, I have a set myself and think they are great) So someone here might be selling one/them or on preludeonline. The tanabe bars should be pretty easy to find I found them on ebay for $100 each, the design is different from what I remember it being but tanabe makes decent parts so I wouldn't be all that worried about it.

As far as the megan being 'bad' I guess it depends, does it function as designed? Sure, however my beef with companies like megan is they essentially take marginal designs (DC sports for instance) and replicate them as cheaply as possible so the fitment might not be as spot on, and the quality of materials isn't going to be as nice. So functionally will they probably do very close to some of the larger name brands, sure but personally I would never put their stuff on any car I own. They are like APC to me, and if you haven't heard of APC then you haven't been in the import scene very long.

Thanks, and no, I don't have a harness bar because I haven't decided whether or not I am going with a cage.

you know that it is dangerous to have the seatbelts mounted to the floor? if you dont give the belts a pivot point at your neckline, if in an accident they will pull you downward...this could possibly snap your spine or crush something because of the angle and momentum...just thought you should know if you already didnt

Id say tanabe, spoon, esp, megan racing, ebay ones can get the job done if your on a budget...ive actually seen some diy towerbars front and rear upper for a civic but you could apply the same techniques to make you one for a prelude.

Pointless, and installation requires modification.

Prior to installation is it necessary to jack the car up in the rear? and with a standard rear strut bar, like the megan ones, there is no modification required correct?

Modification IS required. If you haven't removed anything from your trunk, the carpet will be in the way. You'll have to remove or cut the carpet to install. That is modification.
