hmmmm raspy, any tips?

ok guys i have a megan racing cat-back (designed for H22A). a "spoon" de-cat (inverted commas because i didnt know they made them Oo).

it has a Jan-speed(?) header and down pipe. pretty sure all of it is designed for an H22. either way my car has a F20a4 and the noise from the exhaust is rediculously raspy, whether it is due to mega or whatever id really like to cure it, sounds lovely at low speeds nice low burble but when i rev up a bit it is stupid.

i also have a short ram air intake could it be this?

any help would be fantastic guys here is a vid to give you and idea of what it sounds like atm. altho its not got drive engaged it sounds pretty much the same.

Yes the catalytic converter and resonator are 2 different things. But, usually the tesp-pipes that take place of the cat have a resonator. So technically in your situation they're the same thing.

Just put a resonator on the exhaust and see if you like it after that. Then if you still don't like it your gonna wanna put the original cat back on.

Your pretty much right.I put an O/R midpipe on my Ford Lightning and it hurt my
Torque.I installed a set of baffles/resonators and it helped greatly with the rasp
and lost torque.I think whether it's an 4-6-8 unless your pushing alot of power the
resonators are going to help.Just my 2cents...

a resonator is still a straight through design it shouldn't hurt at all ... and really the power loss would be like .5 to 1 hp if it did lol

A resonator is not just a straight pipe, or it wouldn't do anything more than a straight pipe would. It's an expanded section of pipe that has material to absorb the pressure waves that we don't want to hear. I'm sure it's worth it no to hear the drone in a daily driver.

Prelude of the Month

You need a catalytic converter.... It'll smell better as well plus the 2-4 hp difference isn't justified with a hollow pipe.
