Prelude of the Month
JTC Customs Short Shifter Group Buy

OK guys... You asked for it and here it is. A chance to purchase a true short shifter made specifically to fit the 92-96 Prelude or 94-97 Accord.

GB will run through Thanksgiving! Order Today!

EXTENDED TILL CHRISTMAS!

Original Thread: http://preludepower.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322296

Features:

• Made of high quality steel for strength when shifting

• Compatible with the stock shift cables and shifter base.

• Works with stock shift knob or any shift knob designed for a Honda (M10x1.5 thread)

• Utilizes stock shifter bearings and rotating parts

• It features 3 adjustment settings for throw length.
1.~10% shorter than stock
2. ~40% shorter than stock
3.~75% shorter than stock

• Approximately 1" shorter than stock height (.5" shorter in length than the forbidden, sits ¼” shorter or so because of differences in design)

• ~ double the weight of the stock shifter (where weight is actually desirable)(a good bit heavier than forbidden even.)

• features a large lip to hold the shift boot up for aftermarket shift knob (if you have an aftermarket shift knob, you'll know what I mean)

Heres a shot with all 3 shifters shown:

The shifter is designed similar to the forbidden SS, but I wouldnt call it a replica by any means. Its shorter, heavier, and has some serious differences in appearance (and the best similarities!). Just in case anyone was curious or is looking for a comparison point. As you can see in the picture above, there are some easily visible differences and some subtle ones as well between all three of these. Obviously, the one on the left is the JTC Customs shifter.

Pricing:

$100 USD SHIPPED within the US

Foreign orders will be quoted on shipping and charged $95USD+shipping costs.

*This price is only valid during this Group Buy*

optional powder coating:

+ADD $5 USD

Available colors: Matte Black, White, Yellow, Red

**Now, I will state that I am selling these unpowdercoated to save the buyer on price. Its not a part that nessecarily needs a protective coating to keep in tip top shape. Yes, it will have surface rust if exposed to the elements over time as it is a steel.

Guarantee:

Yes, I will stand behind this product. I am very proud to be producing these for all of you guys. Ive produced lots of one off products or small amounts in the past for my benefit avoiding the hassle of working with people, but I decided to mass produce these to give back to the community with a great product. As with my cars, I want to do everything the right way to my satisfaction no matter how long it takes.

If you end up having any problem with your shifter at all, just contact me. I will do my best to rectify the situation.

How to Buy:

First post here if you are 100% in and then...

Please send the following information to: JTC.Customs@gmail.com

• PP.com ID:
• Full Name:
• Address:
• Phone:
• Email:
• Powder Coating Option: (Interested or not)
• Intended payment method: (cash,check,etc.)
• connector option: 1/2/3

Ok... after all the questions, debate, and just overall options with the connector position causing a needed notch or not I did some more measurements.

I have 3 different positions setup for everyone to choose from.

Option 1: Original placement. Might require a small notch in the shift boot depending on application. Picture below details what the notch is. Most likely not needed, but the disclaimer is here. The test vehicle didnt need it, but we did it anyways.

Option 2: The safe method. connector has been lowered about 1/8". Very very little. But, it assures it will clear no matter what. Overall, it increased the shift length from option 1 about 1/8". Its so subtle it had to be measured to notice the difference. Overall, this is the best option for anyone who is weary of possibly modifying the shift boot as pictured. Its a very small sacrifice in length for ease of use. Plus, its so much shorter than stock anyways its still going to take a week to get used too.

Option 3: Guaranteed Super Short. Relocates the connector as high as possible. Use of the console without modification is possible. Shift boot will 100% have to be modified. We tested this option out and it was definitely short. Its as smooth as any other placement, but because the shift cable is angled so high it took a bit of effort to line it up. It does NOT bind and works very well. I was quite surprised by how effective it was this high. Granted, I dont see how you would use the shift boot at all without cutting all of the plastic part that forms the base shape off at the front. I like this options feel, but still like the length and feel of option 1 best.

Pictured below is my 3 sample shifters again. Comparisons in height differences can be seen through the pictures.

Option 1: Black
Option 2:White
Option 3: Red

The picture below shows the lowest position and highest position. You can see the highest position on the white shifter is the same as the middle on the red in the picture below. Thats how much shorter option 3 will be.

For more pictures visit photobucket album.. http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/n...elude/shifter/

password: tttttt

I promise there is plenty more pictures available to look at including pictures for the install(Ill be adding it soon as I get the time, although its easy!).

Payments:

I will accept cash, check, money order, paypal*.

*For paypal, it will cost you an additional $3.20 to cover the paypal fees.

Once I have received all of your information, I will send you a confirmation email with where/how to send payment in. This way I will be able to keep track of everyone better and do the best job possible keeping all customers happy. It will also be easier(I think) to keep direct communication.

OK... Let the group buy begin!

as you can tell you will have to trim the boot holder a little bit for it to fit with no issues...(top setting only possibly)

here is a comparision in height... the new design is about 1/4" shorter...

i have been driving around on it for about 2 days now and had the forbidden one in for a couple days prior to it so that i would be able to really compare the two..

1.) the new design is significantly heavier.
2.) the throw is about the same maybe a slightly shorter throw...not by much tho.
3.) It shifts alot smoother, this due to the weight...

Can I get some pictures of the shifter installed with the shift boot and center console in? In one of the previous post it says you will have to trim the center console. In the other thread about this I was told you wouldnt have to trim. My old FM short shifter didnt need any trimming, so I wouldnt think this one would need any either. Please post pics to show this.

Edit: Looking at the pictures, if you use the middle or lower setting on the shifter, you may not have to trim the console. I would still like pictures to confirm this before I buy tho. If there is no cutting or trimming I am for sure in on the group buy.

There was a lack of response to the same question in the first thread posted about this. I know to a lot of people cutting the console is not a big deal, but to me its a very big deal.

There are obviously pictures of this shifter in the car, just put the console in and screw and bolt everything into place and see. Its not that hard...

The group buy price for the shifter is good, and I am definitly in if the questions people are asking can be answered. Ill never buy a product when there are unanswerd questions.

Please provide the answers to the questions, pictures people are requesting, and more details about this product before you go out on a limb like you are and saying this is the best product.

The cutting thing is where aftermarket shifters hit the console just in font of the shift boot. When the console in bolted in the shifter will hit this either breaking it or forcing you to cut it so you can go through the gears properly.

The old dumb short shift adapters would do this. The forbidden one did not tho. People are not wanting to spend $100+ dollars to hack up their console. At least I'm not wanting to.

Bump for answers!!!

Sorry for not replying earlier. Ive been a bit busy trying to work out details with everything else too.

This shifter is very similar to the forbidden one. I dont see why you would have to hack up the console if you didnt with the forbidden one. Since I have complete control in placement of the problematic part, just email me when ordering one and I can adjust the part so it will 100% not be a problem.

When testing so far, the gentleman testing the fitment did not put his console back because we were testing different positions for the connector and continually taking it off. After that, its just been a time and effort constraint. When finalizing these, I will make sure that they will not interfere with the console at all if thats what you desire.

I did hear of many problems with the forbidden one actually bumping the console and people cutting a small notch out on the underside of the console to fix the problem. That was only with use on the top setting(shortest shift).

Greg,

I will work on getting some pitcures of it setup in the car with console ASAP. The shifter pictured is one of the prototypes that we were toying around on the height of the connector with (hence the welds).

I also am not sure I ever said this is the best product... I honestly only started this because of requests by people. I honestly am very very happy with the shifter and how it turned out. Ill let the people speak for themselves about it. I know the general opinion so far of the testing is its better than the forbidden one, but thats an opinion stated by people other than me.

So are we waiting on the final design or enough people to sign up for a group buy? Cause I really need one bad. The prelude has such a notchy shifter.

i sent you an email just a few minutes ago. Design is final. They are being manufactured as we speak. So, they are 100% going to be available. The price will go up after this GB though.

Prelude of the Month
emails sent to people who have emailed me. Ill update the list in the AM. pictures will be posted within 24 hours about the whole notching issue to show everyone what it is about. Ive also got some options for everyone as well as I stated above. I can move the connector a little bit lower on any shifter as per the customers request if they dont want to take the chance of any notching. Yes, it will be a little bit longer of a shift, but its going to be almost neglible in the difference if you ask for it to be that way.

Tired. spent several hours updating lists, writing emails, and making arrangements. Going to bed.

Thanks Everyone.
