Question : In many other industries around the world their is a competition for talent . Many athletes that play on American teams were lured from their countries by big pay checks for example . I wonder why American manufactures did not try identify some of the best Jap and European talent and attempt to steal them away by offering them more money ?

How much of the problem with American cars involves design and how involves the people who build it ? I have herd that American cars have to be built in a cheaper way so that their is money to pay what is know as legacy cost . Good Riddance, sorry to be negative guys but for an american company that charged import prices for parts and that has never turned a profit since its inception should have been taken out alot time ago.

No, legacy cost isn't the issue. The problem with American cars is due to arrogance. If I remember right in the mid 80's, Chrysler had a chance to work with honda or toyota, cant remember which one. It was a all but a done deal. The board dissed the idea to point the offend the other party personally.
