Prelude of the Month
Went to the track, 12's at last lol, but still not happy heh. Pics inside

So I went to the track recently to race at the Canadian Sport Compact Series. Buddy of mine lent me his 22x8x15" slicks for the day so I could finally get a decent pass.

This was my first time out on slicks so I was excited to see what I could do but at the same time I never driven on them before so I no idea how the car would react.

So we get there a bit late, and with this being a big event the tech line up was getting huge. I rush to get my car and start racing. So my first pass comes up. I go through the water box, do a quick spin of the tires to get them wet, then proceed to do a nice 2nd gear burnout. The car pulls to the right instantly. This never happened to me before on my drag radials. So first pass up I do a 5,000rpm clutch slip/roll out lol to see how the tires react. 2.2 60 foot, shift softly into 2nd and 3rd, 8.6x at 85mph, then I get a 13.1 at 113.X mph. The slicks felt great. So (I should not have done this) do a hot lap pass with my buddy to launch a little bit harder. This time I leave at 6,000rpm a little harder. 2.0 60 foot, and end up getting a 12.9x at 116mph. Hurray 12's at last lol.

So I let the car cool down for a bout 30-35min then I go out again. This time I am going to give her shit. Do a good burnout and get into the the staging light, bring the revs up 6,500rpm and launched it harder then I ever have. I get a 1.8x 60 foot and I am right beside me buddy's gt3076r EF civic through 1st gear and thourgh 2nd. I shift into 3rd and I am still neck and neck with my buddy's car, and at around 6,500rpm my clutch starts slipping BADLY. FUCK SAKES I yell lol. I still managed an 8.2 in the 1/8th and my buddy ended up running a 12.1 at 118mph

So I think to myself no way the clutch just fucked off on me like that. So I give it about a 2 hour cool down since they track was down for rain for about 1.5 hours and go back out there for the first round of qualifying. I Don't go crazy on the launch but I hammer it into 2nd and sure enough the clutch is fine. I was relieved to know that it got to hot and that I could still race. Well while waiting for the 2nd round of qualifying to start up you can see the rain coming. I was thinking lets go, and the track people keep sending the test and tune guys out. I watched some people get 3 passes in. WHAT THE FUCK. Sure enough the rain comes. It Lasts only 1 hour, and then 30 min after that when the sun is out the cock suckers cancelled the event. WHAT A WASTE of a 200+km trek to the track. MY SHITS WEAK LOL.

So that's my shitty day lol. Here is a couple pics of my car, and my buddy's 380whp EF civic. His first time running his car down the track on slicks. His passes went, 13.1, 12.6, 12.4, 12.1 and then finally got an 11.90 at 120mph. He goes back to the dyno next week to go for 450+whp on pump gas, then back to the track oct 4. I hope he gets his low 11 or even high 10 second pass.

^Thanks man. I don't think I will ever hit 11's with this power level. The car just doesn't have enough in the 330 and the into the 1/8th to really be an E.T car at the track. 12psi on a straight T4 just isn't even working yet heh. I think the best out of this car is a 12.2-12.4 at 114-116mph.

Wow... you have an 11 second prelude at only 12 psi. I can wait to see what your car will do with more boost and practice/seat time. Congrats man 12.1 ftw (With a slipping clutch)!

Time for you to step up to a Competition Stage 5 son!

^LOL not 12.1, 12.90. Now you tell my shits WEAK, because it is hahaha.

I have been hearing some not so good things about the competition clutches recently with pre-mature wear. If I didn't do that hot lap pass I probably would have been fine. Still this Clutchmasters stage 3 has treated me very well over the past 44,000 miles heh. It still works great on the street, and I think I am going to be running again on the 4th october. If she breaks oh well it's gone for the winter in less than a month anyways.

Oh I miss read it. Either way... if you were side by side with the civic your bound for some low 12's with more seat time and a proper clutch. Your car is stout man... dont let anyone tell you different. Most importantly it has been reliable.

Comp stage 5 with upgraded pressure plate is the best clutch I have ever run.

22" slicks just aren't going to cut it. get some 23's or 24.5's

^I agree. My buddy wouldn't let me use his 24.5" slicks for whatever reason. I am to much of a broke ass now to go out and buy some lol.

Thanks man. That was for sure going to be my low 12 run, and go figure with what happens. I hate the track, but I love it.

Thanks. We had a pretty good showing at this event. There was over 20 cars that tried out for my particular class which was 11.50-13.0. Obviously I won't win lol but you never know who will red light. Last year there was a 12.50-13.50 class and we had over 40 cars participating. I don't know why they changed it since I would say around 15+ of those cars were 12.50-12.7 which made for some very close racing.

One of the big reasons though why it doesn't do as well as does up here is because all the tracks are some 2+ hours away from the core of Ontario. Recently to the ministry of transportation has been cock suckers setting up road side checks on cars coming in and out of the race track. Giving road emission tests, improper muffler tickets, tickets for certain breathers and so on. It's bullshit when people go to take racing off the street because 50 over here or stunting will get your car and license taken away, then pull this on you.

There is rumours that a track might be being built only 20 min away from my house. If that happens I think I would be there almost every weekend.

I was running Mickey Thompson 22x8.0x15" slick. These slicks were workng great for how I was driving the car at the track that day, but for my power level a 24.5" slick is better suited for it in my opinion.

The smaller slick allows for better top end and MPH but the 24.5 gives great traction through the bottom end of the race track.

Nice passes man. Best of luck reaching your goals. Larger slicks would've definately benefitted you, but any slicks are better than street tires.

Prelude of the Month
^^^Thanks guys. I am going to the track tomorrow, well I guess today (4th) lol. It's been raining here for about a week straight, and it is finally starting to clear up now. Hopefully the weather will be good for the day, and hopefully my clutch doesn't f-off on me heh.

My buddy in that EF ended up making 423whp at 15psi, and he is going as well. I wonder what that beast will run.
