1991 Prelude side moulding - restoring

Ok guys, found a way which i did tonight to see if it would work, and that is using Autosol Metal Polish, which i got from Eastwood here in Pottstown.
Using a foam pad, lightly on the damp side, and a microfiber towel, (cheapy works), lightly apply the product with the foam pad untill clean, don't let it dry, and rub off with the microfiber. It took off wax from the previous owner, which is a tough one to accomplish. I also used it on the side view mirror plastic trim, and also on the mud guards, but don't use it on pure rubber yet, haven't tried enough of an area to say try. Guys, your trim will look like new, no more trying to find a product to hide all your nasty looking trim. I'll take pics tomorrow. Any questions, please ask.

Definitely have to look into the Autosol Metal Polish. Ive read good things about using Klasse AIO for cleaning up trim as well. Any experience on how the autosol metal polish would compare to KAIO? Looking forward to the pics. Thanks.

Here is one pic i took when it was late this evening, the other pic of the side view mirror plastic housing came out crappy. I like to make a modification on my statement on mud guards, don't try it, it will leave a haze that looks like wax stain, i cleaned off the residue with a citrus based product at full strength, sorry for the earlier statement. I used to have KAIO, but hardly used it, so i threw it away, there's another method to cleaning up trim, i'll chime in on that on another post on how i came about doing that. I'll try more pics tomorrow if the weather is ok.

Mouldings can be a pita. I am trying to get a better working knowledge of the composition of various rubber/vinyls so i know which method works. The Autosol which is an excellent metal polish, has turned out to be well at certain similar mouldings and trims, but i don't think for pure rubber, still working on that part. I collect trims and mouldings from junk yards and practice on them. I have a side pillar moulding from an earlier crx that came out looking like glass, took me over an hour, but i got it done.

Question

How about BONDO RESTORE BLACK? The trim on my 88 prelude is definitely faded on the doors just like everyone's I'm sure. I'm thinking of something like this BONDO stuff because it is actually a DYE which would get deeper than if I was to paint it. Just don't know how long it would last. I painted all my window trim because it was initially painted anyway, I would think this DYE would be better on plastic than painting.

Here is the 3M BONDO I'm talking about.

Never heard of before, which is either unknown much to the detailing community, or was tried by others with out much success, but i have heard where dyes are a good alternative, i was always a hesitant because of any dye leaching onto the painted area. A product which isn't to bad but a little pricy is called Black Wow, not made for all trims but for some it is.

i'll try this out on my prelude. i've been trying to figure out what i can use and it seems that someone's found a partial solution. i used some interior detailor on the trim before, didn't last too long since it was exposed to the harshness of the outside world.
