Prelude of the Month

k20 prelude?

Just saw this over on a local forum.... thought I'd share and allow the rest of you to admire this 4th gen.

If this works, it also works in a 5th gen... then a 3rd gen K20 can happen.

That picture came out of Hasport. They are now selling a kit to do that.

It's worth noting that even in a 4g there is less ground clearance (vs a H/F). So a 3g might get a little exciting.

They don't have mounts made for a 5th gen yet. Nor do they have the axles, harness, header or anything you will need to do the hybrid available yet. I say everyone should give it a year before jumping on Hasports brand new mounts. I've heard of problems at first, but is to be expected. I think you will need a new shift linkage too since its a 6 speed? For all that money, you could build a NICE H22A =).

We have issues on lowered vehicles as is with an H22.... however, a raise hood would solve a lot of problems.

Now that would be a good bay to do a tuck on The drivers side mount on the 5th gen would have to be different, that is what I can see so far.

other than the fact that it's a 6 speed... for the amount of money that had to be spent for parts and labor, i'm sure i can get better gains with normal h22 upgrades.

I wouldn't do any K other than a 2.4 into a heavy Prelude.

Lol, you have no idea what the K20 is and or is capable of becoming. With bolt ons, the K20 can make well over 250whp. I have yet to see any H22 with bolt ons come close to that. The ability to have 100mmstroke and rev beyond 10k RPM is also amazing in the Honda realm. You're right though, with 8k you can get a 250whp NA H22..... and or be stuck with a K20A2 in a prelude with about 180whp....which can then have bolts ons for around 1800 dollars and match your 250whp

No need to be modest, K20's have been built up to over 300whp NA.

250whp with just bolt-ons is a bit excessive I think. They're fantastic motors and definitely better than H22s. But CAI + RH + RBC + Kpro isn't going to turn into 250whp.

There is still an argument that you could get more from spending the same amount of money on the H-series in the car already, but eh. I'd take the K no questions asked.

for the price of swapping that in and having custom parts made you could easily build a 275whp prelude with a h series

Prelude of the Month

since when does how good a motor looks have a role in building a fast car?

250-300whp is definitely attainable with bolt-ons.
you should probably look around before you say other wise

as for the "this is my first time seeing a k20 in a 5th gen..." statement?
what rock have you been hiding under?

a k20 in a 3rd gen has been done, and based on the lean of the motor, won't work. change the hoodline and gain some clearance with the motor and you may be ok...
no one has straight info from the guy who did it though...

so it's been in a running 5th gen. 4th gen should be a no-brainer.
3rd gen is a pipe dream until proven otherwise
