Ok, so im trying to find floor mats for my 3g. Of course, im probably not/never going to find any OEM 3g floor mats in any good condition.

So, what im asking, do 4th or 5th gen floormats fit well in a 3g?

I "searched" this topic and it was very vague-maybe somebody can help me out.

I just got some lloyds custom mats and highly recomend them. Check the f.a.q. for link at bottom of page.

thanks for the help-i will look into the custom mats

however, im still wondering if the 4th or 5th gen mats would work well in the car? I just want something decent that doesnt look cheap.

all-weather floormats are the way to go.
i had to cut some off to fit around my foot rest and trunk/gas release, but it fits perfectly, all the way up to where you rest your feet, and all the way back to just under the seat. if you want, i can take pics...you should see my original carpet...B.E.Autiful.

post a pic-just curious, but sounds like something that would not really look all that great.

I don't know what your budget is or color scheme but other than these being oversized to protect your carpet the drivers side is knotched for the gas/trunk release and footrest and then a sewn edging is added. If you call autoanything they will mail you the color carpet samples you want. And you get a catalog (generic) that gives you additional 15% off if order in 2 weeks. For my black on black I went with the charcoal version of the 2 year warranty ones that can be custom imbroidered, though I chose no embroidery. I'm sure the embroidery would look nice and its cheap only $20 but they don't have any agreament with honda so they said they could embroider anything you want but not anything connected to the car. I tried to get prelude, Si 4ws and Si and it was a no go.

With the discount it was $102 for the 4 mats delivered. They have an ultra plush for like $160 and I thought I wanted that but after getting the sample it seemed too much like shag. That and they only offered a medium grey for it.

The ones I got maybe slightly thicker than original. But look great.

I know I said charcoal but the color that Lloyd's call it is graphite!!

Yeah I can get some pics out but I can't show em installed. The drivers door is blocked right now in the garage. Also the passenger side I could I guess but there is a lot of crap sitting there right now that and my seat is out so may not be able to relate to well.

Yeah I'm adding this I forgot about it. I was going to get Si4ws in brush script in sand or light beige or whatever thought it would look rather classy.

4g mats

i have 4 g mats in my lude. the passenger side fits perfect. the drivers side is a little off where the gas lever goes, and its narrower under the pedals. the back mats fit good but are a little smaller. oh and the stripes go the opposite directions but you have the h emblem on the passenger, and the prelude in cursive on the drivers mat. but definitely better than no mats.

I recently bought the standard plush floor mats by Lloyd floor mats. I may add this to my cars thread later but info was wanted so I deliver. I will post a mod shortly after creating this post to put a 36k warning now in the title as to accurately describe these/what I bought I decided on no less than 10 pics to display. I must say before buying these I got free carpet samples from Lloyd and stock interiors. Stock interiors is the other site that I endorsed and collaborated with mods for the F.A.Q.s. For budget custom cut mats with a variety of colors the stock interiors mats by their samples and website seemed great! However the standard Lloyd's mats are a cut above. They are more plush and state that their standard mats may be upto 2 times the thickness of stock oem mats. These come with a 2 year warranty. The ultra-plush are lifetime! As we very well know the stock 3rd gen mat o.e.m. is no longer available. Like I said the stockinteriors.com mats and replacement carpet are great. Both companies will mail you free samples for matching and comparing. I stated that from the samples that were mailed to me the Lloyd's ultra plush mats at about $160 for the four seemed like shag carpeting from the '70's. I wish I could of recieved a stock mat with larger carpet sample as after getting the stock embroidable mats that maybe they could of been more plush for a bare-foot response. They were more taught in a larger area and sewn edges. However I happy as the ultra plush (semi-shag) only came in medium grey and would of been way too bright for my black interior with dark charcoal interior found on a 90-91. I am unsure if the carpet is the same color on '88-89 models with black interior. To be honest I never payed that much attention at the junkyard. So I suggest you call for the free samples to match what you got. It sucks Lloyds didn't strike a deal with honda especially considering honda will no longer provide stock floor mats for the 3rd gen. You just look at autoanything.com website and you see if you had a caddilac they could embroider the entire crest in the middle of the mat. Enough to make you sick. But outside of that still the best product on the market. In matter fact the box they came in that was fed-exed, Wonder what that cost seeing how it was free shipping, said they been around since 1978.

I want to state again that the following pics of the standard embroidable mat was color graphite to match the dark charcoal interior carpet on a '90-91 with black interior!

also pics of hexomats for trapping snow and water in winter spring.

This was the thread I had my floor mats posted in. I rehosted the pics. Bump for newbies. This thread isn't in the F.A.Q. but one of my post has a link to this thread in carpet /floor mat thread in second half of F.A.Q. the "aftermarket half" this beeing pretty much at the bottom.

I think it is ebony or close to it. It was the only non black anywhere close to being dark enough. However If you just click on this link I will give and tell them what color samples you want in what model pile thickness and give them an your address they will ship you samples. They seemed cheaper direct then autoanything today.

I see that Honda Corp. relaxed their copyright standards or is getting a kick back. Back when I got mine I wanted to get 4ws embroidered in blue similar to the ones that where offered here by a small company that a few members bought in on. That company got a legal cease and desist from Honda Corp. Now Lloyds offers the Honda name or logo in silver I see. It didn't make a lot a sense to me because back then if someone owned a Cadillac they could embroider like a 5" or bigger Cadillac crest on the carpet Lloyds mats.

I don't see where they're offering them with either Prelude or 4ws embroidered. Pretty sure you've always been able to get them with what's offered now from Lloyd. I'm just glad I was one of the lucky ones who bought some before the cease and desist order. Still have them packed away for safe keeping. I might start using them some day, but for now I'm using some 4th gen floor mats I found in the junkyard.

nope no Honda emblem or names when I ordered mine. of course that was a long time ago.

I'd be interested to know this as it would make my floor mats less rare than they are now. I'd be surprised if you can use either 4WS or Prelude. But I've been surprised before. :hehe:

Yeah I bought them 10 years ago and spent close to $120 or just under for front and rear combined and was pissed at Honda when I tried to get customized floor mats. They now show accord and civic embroidered mats. Back then I tried to get Prelude 4WS and then Prelude and then 4WS. Lloyds mats company themselves said they couldn't do it because of Honda Copyright laws.

Part of me wonders how they'd question '4WS' you know? Maybe it stands for something else and that would just need to be communicated to Lloyds. Just how people circumvent the personalized license plates with crude humor.

Side note - the OP of this threads car is actually mine now. Full circle.

Well I tried personalizing on their website. Prelude was rejected as a model or make. 4ws worked but it might come back and say they can't do it.
