car shaking under acceleration

Hey everyone

My friends 86 Si has started shaking when you give it gas, I'm trying to help him track the problem down, any ideas? His clutch is almost shot(takes a huge amount of effort to actually use it, and then it barely moves), could that be it? It only atually shakes when he gives it gas to accelerate, take it off and it goes away, I'm stumped on this one! Thanks

Also can be Wheel bearings and Ball joints, grab the top of the wheels in the front and try to shake them... if they move in virt. direction, its wheel bearings or ball joints... If it moves in Horiz. direction, then its tie-rod ends... if it doesn't move, then clutch or engine/tranny mounts...
