well as all of you know today is easter. And today at work had to have been the slowest day ever. so i had a lot of time on my hands. For those who dont know, i work at auto Zone. i posted a while back about how the 90-93 accord alternator will bolt on our cars, and yes it still does. but i looked up a 94 accord EX and there was one even cheaper for 99.99 and it had 90amps insetead of the stock 70 on the prelude. the only difference on the alternator on the 94 is the pully it has 6 groves instead of 5 like the prelude. so all you have to do is switch pulleys.and on the prelude alternator there are threads Tapped into the small ear on the alternator where it mouts. and on the accord there are no threads. so all you need is a bolt and a nut and you have a 90amp alternator instead of the 70 and its about 40 dollars cheaper. by the way the 90-93 accord alternator has 80amps and does not require a pully swap, but does need the bolt and nut for the small ear. everything else like plug location and style are all the same. even the actual alternator case is the same. just some extra info and a better deal. you can even go look for your self, go to AUTOZONE and ask for these alternator part numbers 14853 is the prelude and 13218 is the 94 accord alternator. have them pull it off the shelf and then compare them. these are AUTOZONE part numbers they wont work at any other parts store.

wow thats pretty tight! about that nut and bolt thing for the mount, you said the cases are the same so couldnt you just swap the back side of the case an dnot have to worry about the nut and bolt? I am putting 2 amps in my car sometime (a 4 channel for my door/deck speakers and a 2 channel for subs) so I am for sure going to do that swap so I know I will have enough power!

if you switch the cases you will have to dissasemble the alternator, and make sure the brushes and all that go on right if they dont then that will suck and the alternator will not work the nut and bolt will work just fine

i have rebuilt alternators before, so the first thing i was thinking was about switching the case, before i even read everyoe else's ideas. but yeah, just the windings are what you are looking for for more amps. so it all sonds feasable. i wonder what they will do with the core? what i mean is which car will they say it is for when it goes back?

I'm not trashing on this accord alt. idea, cause I think it's great, I just want to throw another idea into the mix.
You could get the stock alt. rewound to produce more amps. And i've heard that some places will do it for like $1/amp. That's pretty cheap. 70 amp to 100 amp for $30 (although 100 amps might be a little overkill, but you get the idea).

I really don't know much about rewinding. Just something I've heard about and thought I'd throw out.

ok, where can you get stock alternators rewound?

why wouldn't you have to change the fuse links?

when you give them back the bastardized alternator, they'll ship it to the reman place. they'll try to remanufacture it and see that it won't work. If they actually do rebuild it, they'll toss it when they test it since it's all different. not our problem :D

The electrical system feeds off the battery - the alternator recharges the battery - there should not be any adverse affects. And I haven't had any problems - and the lights going dim at stop lights disapeared too (when using, heater, blower, rear defroster, headlights, and fogs..

no that was my keyboard, my moms computer is a mac and the damn keyboard has gone out 2 times in less than a yearm she thinks we are breaking it and she yells about it but I say its just a piece of shit mac, it is our fault it breaks an average of every 5 months
what its a stator? is it posible to buy and replace it yourself?

haha. wow. you seem to have great luck with keyboards. although, it's funny....the keyboard isn't actually made by Apple, so it's not a "piece of shit mac." Mac hardware is light years ahead of our x86 standards. Their only downfall is the software base. If decent software came out for them, Apple would release reproduction rights and Apple "clones" would be made -- just like PCs. Then we would have 800 MHz power macs out-running 2.5 GHz pentiums on a daily basis. For what they're used for (video and graphics editing), macs are the best you can buy. You just have to be a "power user" to appreciate what they are and how to keep them working beautifully.

anyway, sorry. Yeah, what's a "stator." i've never heard that before
