Exhaust Decision to make. Apexi WS2 vs RS-R Ex-mag

Ok guys, tax refund is here. So I'm buying me some stuff.

Now I've found the two i'm stuck between. Can anyone tell me the diffrences I should be paying attention to?

The Apexi WS2 is CONSIDERABLY cheaper, found it for $399.63 + shipping

The RS-R is more expensive, cheapest I could find a new one is $553.00

I've checked out the exhaust clips in the resource thread, but has anyone stood next to both of them? I'm looking for something relativley quiet so I can drive my car around without fear of tickets, but something decently loud at WOT. What are your thoughts on the quality of both units? Anything else I should know before I make a decision?

To me, the price of the WS2 makes it a pretty clear winner, but I'd like to hear what you guys have to say.

I don't think I've ever heard one, but I see alot of people who have the RSR talking about how they really love it.

I'll be honest with you I have researched the Apexi WS2 and i havent read good things about it. It isnt fully stainless, only the muffler is and I have been reading about how the piping, flanges, and even muffler begin to rust within a year depending on your location. And if you listen to the clips the sound boggles down like crap when the rpms are lowering.
I would either go with ( I know its not on your choice list) a tanabe smh (fully stainless and I have found it for 495 with shipped for SH and 465 shipped for a base. Listen to the sound clips, sounds pretty good. Or the RSR which I have no complaints about. Just the price!!
Have you thought about a thermal??? just curious
GL with your decision.

I had a WS2 on my old 92 accord and my buddy had an RSR exmag on his integra. I drove both one right after the other on multiple occassions and even tho they are different engines and they can produce different tones and sounds:

1. The RSR was quieter and closer to stock on the outside. Has a little hummm to it. It's louder (deeper) inside the car than it is on the outside. It looks more stock

2. The WS2 was a little louder, not by much. Has a nice little humm to it as well. It was quieter inside the cabin than the RSR. It doesn't look stock at all, but looks nice.

Both won't get you any attention in terms of sound. The WS2 resonator might hang lower and might scrape more if you are lowered. The RSR looks and sounds closer to stock.

I'd personally get the WS2 for price and looks. i think it's a better value.

is the rs-r buzzy at all? i've got the tanabe shm, and it's buzz when you first hit vtak. Its annoying now .So im searching for alternatives. I may go back stock. Seems to be the only safe bet.

sounds like you could use a bigger/extra resonator.

well, it seems just when i hit vtak from what ive noticed in the cabin. But, ive heard my car from the outside when they've test driven in during an alignment. it seems busy/ricy sounding always. i just cant hear it i suppose. I cringe when i heard it from the outside. Seems that when you get on it, even when not in vtec, it sounds , well not very apprelaing to me. LIke idle, it sounds good. Power gains, idk. Seems a bit hollow downlow. I think the real gain was top end tho. When i first got it, it was buzzy, but i thought that was just it breaking in. Its over a year, and it's about the same, just deeper. It seems as if nothing will make it sound clean unlike the stock setup. Honda got it right.

Prelude of the Month
RSR or just keep looking around? Nismo2Honda had the WS2 and it had fitment problems and he would scrape on any hill! Any exhaust thats isnt fully stainless I would stay away from

Prelude of the Month
what you should also be paying attention to is the designs of the 2 mufflers
there is one major difference that everyone overlooks.
ws2 is straight through while rsr is baffled design. *more flow= what?*
rsr is quieter for that reason AND the outlet is smaller. has black ceramic coating.
ws2 has better airflow. apexi piping is good, has purplish ceramic coating, i never saw rust on my friend exhaust which was 4years old.

I just got a WS2 and I love it!!! Buy from a vendor that used to be on here. They were really good. $440 shipped from CA to OH. They were awesome to deal with, and they got it out the next day! I think it was LSD Motorsports.

The WS2 is the shit. I'd get a custom exhaust though from kteller.com so you can build the exhaust yourself. With one or two good resonators, you will have a nice sounding, quiet exhaust. my 3" ws2 isn't even loud until you get about 5000 rpms. You barely hear it when you are crushing. Of course it won't look stock. Why pay money for an exhaust upgrade if you want to look stock? Might as well have put the money towards some Koni yellows. I'd go ahead and upgrade your full exhaust. Try to PM DJ Hookid if you are interested in a great header. Its the Hytech Replica Header. Then you can get a 2.5" cat, 1 or 2 resonators, and a 2.5" exhaust with a 2.5" ws2. probably can get it all on and installed for $1000 and you will have one hell of a nice performance upgrade. Best thing about it, your car will actually better gas mileage and will be quiet also.

what are your reasons for getting a new exhaust? performance? sound? style? You should ask your self those questions because each exhaust will suite those needs differently. I myself am looking for a nice looking quieter exhaust. Unless you have a bunch of other bolt-ons youre not going to have a noticeable difference in power anyway. I looked into the WS2 and I am really disappointed in the sound, it sounds like a gag fart machine. Apexi exhausts are known to hang very low and if youre lowered a lot it will scrap. Its those reasons I would take the Ex-mag over the WS2. Listen to this clip, it honestly sounds like a fart when the revs go down

i've had experiences with both exhuasts and i gotta say that both are very quiet. rsr looks more stock but is harder to find, even though most web sites say they have them in stock, they probably don't and you will be waiting a long time for rsr japan to make new ones. that was the problem when i tried to order one, they said it was on back order. the ws2 is much cheaper and is a very good exhuast as well, the resonator hangs a bit low but you can get the muffler shop to raise it, i've not had any problems with scraping and im lowered 1.2 inches. Someone mentioned the vibrant which i also had before my ws2. it looks great, almost like stock but it is much louder than the ws2 or rsr. however i did notice more torque with vibrant.

Idk, I'm a fan of my ws2. Need to have the resonator raised though. I can scrape the thing on low spots with stock ride height. Sounds great and is very subtle when i want it to be (driving past a cop at 3 AM).

It seems like it's split down the middle at this point. I have the WS2 on my lude and I love it! It's very quiet inside the cabin, I can barely even hear it. I don't have any rust on mine, but I live in NC so that may be why. I love the WS2 and wouldn't even consider swapping it out for another exhaust. Just my .02 cents though
