Hey guys I'm re-sealing my oil pan to fix a leak and can't get the pan to come off. I've removed all the bolts including the trans\engine brace, exhaust down pipe, cross member. I can't find a good place to wedge it without damaging the pan. Shouldn't this think just drop right off? Anybody got any ideas?
Make sure all the bolts are out, and start hitting it with a rubber mallet. If you hit like a girl, it won't come off. Don't use a screwdriver or prybar as you can damage the "mating surface"
OK guys I hit it the pan with a rubber mallot hard a few times then pryed on the tab by the crank pully and it popped off! Thanks a bunch! Oh any suggestions for cleaning this honda bond off of the mating surfaces?
I replaced my oil pan just the other week at work. I used a small pry bar on the lip near the crank pulley. Popped right off, with a bit of effort. That ultra flange shit is pretty sticky.
Good job cause its a pain in the butt . It took me a while to get my pan off .
